The Pittsburgh Penguins made a HUGE splash in the trade front Sunday night to say the least. GM Goffie was left feeling that his team was good but not good enough. Looking at the medicore 4-2 record he wanted to change the look of his team.
 Deal 1
To Pittsburgh Alexander Frolov, Mike Knuble
 To Minnesota Alexei Yashin

GM's Thoughts: This deal gave us a young stud in Frolov and a solid 3rd liner in Knuble. Although we gave up the best player in this deal we feel Yashin was not fitting in here.

 Deal 2
 To Pittsburgh Kurt Sauer
 To San Jose Jay Pandolfo

GM's thoughts: The Pens needed to improve teh #5 d spot and we feel that Sauer is a tough young dman who will fit in on the 3rd pairing. With the aquisition of Frolov and Knuble we felt our PK was set, this allowed us to move the fan favorite veteran to sure up our defense.

 Deal 3
To Pittsburgh Kim Johnsson, Daniel Alfredsson
To New York Ed Jovanovski, Saku Koivu

GM's thoughts: This was a tough deal to make but we think that Ed needed a change of scenery and we wanted a new #1 dman. It broke our heart to let team leader Saku Koivu go but we felt it was best for both parties.

 Deal 4
To Pittsburgh Brad Richards, Tony Hrkac
To Chicago Tuomo Ruutu, Daniel Alfredsson

GM's thoughts: This deal gave us a young stud who is a star in this league now for a great winger and a future star. We felt the aquistion of Frolov made Ruutu expendable. We gave up a lot but we expect Richards to be the leader of this team for many years to come.
