Default New Fox Series Lone Star Probably on Death Bed *CANCELLED*

Is anybody else watching this? It's the show that comes on after House. I normally don't watch TV but this is the first TV series that I've been interested in for years.

Unfortunately, it seems the ratings are absolutely attrocious even though the show was critically acclaimed by preview critics, it seems the general public doesn't take to it or doesn't know it exists even though it followed House. It's also scheduled against Dancing with the Stars which is pretty much a no-win.

I think this show is amazing, it reminds me of all those Hollywood heist and con game movies basically and it has star power in Jon Voight. Unfortunately it's a FOX show and we know how trigger happy FOX is when great television doesn't get up to their standards.

I still think the Nielsen ratings system is horribly inaccurate but the show has something like only 3-4 million viewers a night which is terrible for a show that follows House. Fox used to control Monday nights with House and 24. I'll be really depressed if this show gets canceled. That teaches me for starting to watch TV again.

UPDATE: CANCELLED

Lone Star's ratings are about half of what Fox needs them to be to save the show, i.e. Nielsen's ratings would have to be 100% inaccurate for them to consider it.

that is why i almost never pay attention to new pilots, i always wait until the first season is done to see if it gets renewed before i get into a show. i did however make an exception this year with Boardwalk Empire, i trust HBO a lot more than the major networks with new stuff

I have to admit that this is how I approach it as well. I simply don't watch new shows. Why bother? You can always view the first season or two online if they survive. Actually that is how I watch TV now--online with the ability to fast forward commercials. Other than live events why would you want to watch any other way?

I've watched both episodes. The acting for the main character is absolutely horrible. I find the story lines to be really rushed so far. A couple more weeks, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they canceled it... I was thinking as much last night after episode 2.

If the series was the ongoing adventures of this guy it would never be cancelled

I honestly think this show is fantastic, but alas, it isn't going to matter. On the flip side, it actually had a very slight week-to-week rating share. It isn't enough though, FOX doesn't have that patience. This show should be on FX.

Being critically acclaimed in the new kiss of death.

These somewhat sophisticated shows seem to perform better on HBO, AMC, etc. Maybe one of them will pick it up. It's one hell of a story line.

I'm majorly bummed. I give up on watching network TV. Last two times I was hooked on a show (Keen Eddie with Sienna Miller when she was still young and hotter) it was cancelled by Fox...and after that it was Journeyman which was cancelled by NBC. Everything I like gets cancelled. F*** the TV watching taste of the American public.

I really loved this show. I love crime/con movies and really like the acting from Jon Voight as the blue-collar tough as nails executive of the oil company/father in-law the main character was trying to fool as well.
