Is iphone the best phone, or is it at the top because it doesn't have any other crappy or cheaper phones on the market that lowers their score like others on this list do?
You make a good point...but I would say that's also a strong argument for focusing on doing one thing really well and dominating that position.

If that same report came out and Apple was at the bottom of the list then people would say that high end users are more demanding so it's unfairly skewed towards the low-end manufacturers.

Either way, <3 because you are one of the coolest people on this forum.

Finally was able to snag one through retentions today. My 3g broke three weeks ago today. My iPod classic broke 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I have been using a 1st gen shuffle for the past 2 weeks.

The hunt is over!

So Samsung's top smartphone runs the same OS as HTC phones, yet is 2/5 for OS to HTC's 4/5 and Moto's 5/5. I stopped looking after that.

They don't, though. Each manufacturer puts their own version of the Android OS on their phones. This is why people can't update whenever Google puts out a new version. They have to wait for the Samsung, Motorola, HTC (etc) version.

Not to mention there are several phones that each manufacturer makes, each supporting a different version of Android

As a Rogers customer I got mine in 2 days. I went into one of the stores, and they took my name down. They get their shipment every Thursday and Friday. So when Thursday came around sure enough I got mine. Only problem is they have only been getting the 16 GB. If you are a Rogers customer I suggest doing that. I went to the one in TD.

This is one of the reasons I didn't do much more than glance @ Android phones when deciding on a smart phone.

Not to mention many of the manufacturers have a nasty habit of dropping OS upgrades as soon as a newer model of their phones comes out. No guarantee that your fancy new Android phone is getting 2.3 or whatever unless you like relying on third party port/hack efforts.

This pisses me off with anything. There should almost be a standardized time that companies have to fully stand by their products.
Seems like most cell-contracts are 3 years, so I would suggest 3 years would be a good amount.
Even with that, I ride my phones until I lose/break them or they are simply too outdated. I had my moto razr phone (one of the first I believe) for 3-4 years before it broke on me and I bought my 3gs
Didn't the same thing happen to 3g iphone owners? They could upgrade to os4, but it wasn't recommended and ran like shiat for anyone who did.

Somebody with one is going to have to comment on this, but I'm pretty sure the latest firmware fixed many of the issues. Still not great, but a little more functional I believe.

Beijing Apple Store Closed Due To Scalpers Reselling iPhone 4

According to sources, the real customers and the iPhone 4 scalpers had a fight in the Apple store. A gang of scalpers were cutting the queue and some customers were fed up with the scalpers for buying large quantities of iPhone 4 and resell them outside the store. The police and Apple’s own security staff appeared to clean up the mess and due to the chaotic crowd, the store needs to be closed temporarily…

UPDATE: All four Apple retail stores in China now require customer to show his/her identity card while purchasing the iPhone 4. Every customer could only purchase one iPhone 4. Apple employees will unbox the iPhone 4 for customers and activate the phone right away. So, the iPhone 4 scalpers could not resell the iPhone 4 as “brand new” and buy in large quantities.

HP's been doing that for their equipment for what, 25 years at least now?

At least for printers anyways...

Market Mall is getting them in, my buddy grabbed one yesterday. He got in line at 3am however (the rest showed up at 5:30am). But if you really want one, go early.

My blackberry microphone is shot, so I want to swap for an iPhone as I am eligible for an upgrade, but this lack of stock is screwing me. I'm with Rogers and the best they can do is "phone the store and check if they are in" - sure, if I had nothing else to do but wait in my car. Yesterday I phoned one store at 9:30 and was told they hadn't got any yet, then I phoned again at 11:15 and all the stock was already gone.

Yeah, that's great. Maybe I'll lurk outside the back entrance and wait for a delivery truck next time.

This whole iPhone's not being in stock is ridiculous. I've needed a new iPhone since June.
