Would that be Dr Atkins dying of a heart attack?

The Alanis Morissette version would be Dr. Atkins dying by slipping on ice and hitting his head on the pavement.

Just to clarify here, this is not the guy who invented the segway and touted it as revolutionizing personal transport or whatever. This was just some dude who bought the Segway company last December IIRC.

Methinks new employees will now be going through some more intensive safety courses during their on-boarding period

George Bush fell off of a Segway a few years back...I thought some gyro was suppose to keep you balance on one of these things...This recent accident sound like he drove right off the cliff...Thelma and Louise style...

Here's the million dollar question. It's not like he was locked in a car or something - this is basically a glorified scooter; why didn't he just jump off the thing when he saw he was headed for the cliff?

It is certainly ironic that the owner of a company, that sells a product on which a fairly large amount of effort was spent to ensure that the public knew how safe they were, dies in an accident involving that product.
The fact that he just recently bought the company, so presumably was not involved in the efforts to convince people it was safe, makes it a little less so, but the irony is still there.

At 12 mph, he stood no chance. Everything happens so fast at that speed.
