Sorry if this has already been covered...
When you are playing someone online, is there some sort of setting or trick you can do so the headset "connection" doesn't go dead as soon as the horn blows to end the game (or when you score an OT goal)?
I doubt it, but it's worth a shot.

No, it's a online system setting. Once game is completed, the systems dync.

I'm getting rather tired of this game freezing on me whenever I go to see which cards of mine have sold in HUT mode. The really stupid part is it takes three or four reboots of my Xbox to be able to finally get into the Trade Pile screen without the game freezing... and then it doesn't show me anything, since the game thinks I've already seen all the results and has already cleared them.
Crap like that, along with getting hosed with a DNF penalty because my wireless dropped two times during two SINGLE PLAYER games... I'm quickly losing my interest in this game, not to mention losing my interest in EA altogether (year after year after year after year of BS like this).

It always freezes on the same screen, and the game is completely installed on my Xbox hard drive. The only time it accesses the disk is for purchase verification when I first launch it. I don't think the game disk is the problem.
For the record, it only freezes on the Trade Pile screen in HUT when I have some cards that have been sold.

yup. have this on a nightly basis. just play prevent defense. better yet, don't even try to control dmen. it's boring and repetitive, but just stand back and hope for the best as the opposing player dangles/figure skates around... apparently this is the way the game was intended to be played this year.
online nhl has officially become as dull as online madden. brutal.
Kind of wish i had rented this game before dishing out the 70 bucks plus for online. Though offline is basically the same game as last years....

Or just some people are really really good at the game and you're not at their level. I get absolutely smoked sometimes, but it's no fault of the game.

I know every time I get smoked it's because I'm playing online, video game hockey the way it's meant to be played, and they are just figure skating around me with their namby-pamby skills.

Its worth a shot to reinstall it perhaps. The issue isn't widespread that everyone is occuring it.

So my playstation signed me out of the network and I can't sign back in. It tells me I have the password wrong (which I don't) and then it gives me an error when I try 'forgot password'
Any ideas?

I don't know what's going on with my PS3 but I haven't been able to connect to EA's servers since Sunday. It either freezes on the startup screen when connecting to EA's servers (to the point where I have to hard boot the system) or if it does make it past that then it fails to connect to the servers when I go into HUT mode.
This is annoying as hell especially considering it used to work fine. I searched online and see I'm not the only one with this problem, but I haven't found any solutions...

Out of curiosity, I decided to Google it and found an issue thread on EA's forums. I only went through 2 pages of the thread, but I still counted 5 posts regarding my exact problem. I think it's not just affecting me.
http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/135/2069518.page
Edit: And no, none of those posts are from me. I don't even have an account there that I know of.

Getting the same problem here. Just ran the system update, it cleared my password (which was saved and set to auto login) and now when I type my password back in to sign in, it says it is incorrect. WTF.

Wow..a lot of complaints about the game. I still think its pretty good, maybe because I skipped NHL 10.
Even though I'm enjoying it I think it would be great to see 2k get their act together and make a solid hockey game again. Competition is a good thing.

I'm still enjoying the game, but I'm not an online player. I mostly do the Be-A-Pro stuff.
To me the biggest attribute to improve especially if your a dman is the checking and strength. If you don't have either of those your pretty much bouncing off of people.
I do appreciate this years change to the AI, if you miss time an attempted hit not only does the oppossing player go around you, but you eat glass as well.
I appreciate that they tightened up the AI, a lot of the old stuff, passes through other players, the cheap face off right wing goal, and long slapshots off the wing just don't work anymore, this game makes you work the cycle until something opens up, so to me the game is way more real. You also don't feel like your player is floating anymore.
I also like the little touches, the broken sticks the goal reviews are all fun.
But thats not to say that this game is perfect or the holy grail of hockey.
There are a lot of really wacky goals especially caused by your goalie misplaying the puck or the defenseman misplaying the puck. The AI insists on wingers trying to deke to the middle on most plays which really cuts off the chance of a drop pass to a streaking defenseman. And the constant shooting off the offensive faceoff are all slightly annoying.
Things that I've really enjoyed.
Playing as the Hitman in the memorial cup.
Hemsky coming one way off of the middle deke wich I read coming across the middle thus hitting him with a glancingn elbow that sends him flying down the ice and onto the injured list for 4 to 6 weeks.
Pumping 5 shots past Khabbi out of 7 shots.
Having Kane skate into my own tunnel of death and feeding him a check by my 6'5" 235 pound defenseman.
The preseason schedule where you play with different linemates that you might never play with again.
Overall I think this is a great game, though not fantastic. But the problem with the sports games is that you can't hide the fact that AI hasn't caught up enough to be realistic, and that might never happen.
But overall fun.

I think it's expectations. This game would be considered the greatest sports game of all time if NHL 08-NHL 10 were crap, but they were pretty amazing games as well, so expectations were great going in. When someone just meets expectations, it doesn't matter how high those expectations were, it's only OK. It irks me to see the developers called lazy when it's apparent how much hard work and innovative thinking went into making these games.
No one is trying to pull one over on the hockey gaming community. There will be kinks in the AI that make the game unrealistic as the programming behind this game must be extremely difficult. The games are much better than they were ten years ago, and will be much better ten years from now.
Maybe some of you aren't enjoying the game because you aren't very good at it. Instead of realizing that, and either living with this slight against your ego, or working on your game to get better, you just pout and call everyone else cheaters. I don't play Halo because I suck and it's no fun always losing, so if that's your reason, that's very legitimate, but don't blame other players for your own inadequacies.

i'm actually something like 35-10-5 in online vs.
I play stay at home defense and avg less than 5 hits a game. it's a boring game playing like that, so no i'm not getting smoked and complaining about that.
passing is riskier than to just try to go end to end == unrealistic game.
past years, poke checks and sticklifts were avaible to counter the excess dangling. however, this year, with these being minimized, the game experience is rather dull.

I don't know, I've been pretty successful at using the poke check or the stick out against people that try and dangle.
Of course the best is still the well timed open ice hit from the side.
