Hello confirmation bias!
I read a story that a man saved a puppy from drowning. Therefore, society is clearly becoming more benign and happyifying. Rainbows and ice cream are just around the corner!

While I am happy about the Rainbows and ice cream, I want balloons and butterflys too.
Until then, our society is collapsing.

Also, waiting skeptically for further details. Calgary news overblew the Sansom story. We may be getting a sensationalized story here too.

Oh come on ... she was given a date rape drug. Date rape drugs are not narcotics, they're classed as sedatives or anesthetics. This was a disgusting incident, but lets keep it real. A narcotics lecture would have done nothing to stop this. She was slipped a date rape drug ... not a drag on a joint. Consumption of alcohol has lead to more rapes than narcotics have.

Sounds like they caught an 18 year old and charged him with sexual assault. Let the prison sodomy begin.

Anyone who uses a date rape should be tried as an adult.

So in one of the articles it says that 1 in 4 women will be raped at least once. Isn't that insanely high?

Does the statistic include the women whose "eyes were saying yes"?

We made the next generation afraid to have sex. Society could really use another sexual revolution.

It gives you an excuse to kill teenagers, though, and people won't think you're a total monster for it. And we all know, if there's anyone that deserves a killin', it's a teenager.

My daughter knows everyone involved, most all the guys are over 18 and all pretty well come from middle class families, she knows the lass as well and called her to let her know she was there for her and didn't think she was asking for it as alot of the girls in their circle are saying.
I've spent my life working with disturbed kids andyet one of the worst things to happen comes from an association with my daughter, wierd.

Maybe I just had a better upbringing but when I was 16 I never thought it would be a good idea to gang rape a girl... But then again I was never into the whole rave scene and wasn't big into drugs either.

didn't you know? Rape by deception is all the latest craze.
Dude: "Hey baby, check out this picture of my car"
Dudette: "Sweet car, can you take me for a drive?"
Dude: "It's in the shop, wanna get busy anyways?"
3 minutes of tender love later....
Dudette: "What do you mean you don't own that car?! RAPE!"
As far as this topic goes, another dark incident for mankind. Not a big believer in the death penalty, but I believe even less in the justice system.
Should be life sentences handed out, with no chance for parole.
YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO SOMEONE and walkaway from it with some BS 2 years served sentence or something along those lines.
....I just don't know how people go from playing with G.I. Joe's in a sandbox as a 4 year old, into drugging rapists.

How does one ask to be date raped by 6 guys? Some teens have pretty skewed perceptions of what people deserve.

Some stats from the Canadian Women's Foundation:
Half of Canadian women (51%) have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16.1
Every minute of every day, a Canadian woman or child is being sexually assaulted
One to two women are murdered by a current or former partner each week in Canada
Thirty-six percent of female victims of spousal violence and less than 10% of victims of sexual assault reported these crimes to the police in 2004
Violence against women occurs across all ethnic, racial, religious, age, social and economic groups. Some women are more vulnerable however, and are more likely to experience violence, including women with disabilities, geographically-isolated women, young women and Aboriginal women.
