In cases where someone slips up and accidentally throws a swear into their post, just taking out the word can sometimes make things kinda confusing.

Unfortunately this software doesn't have the same replace functionality that the old one did, it's either a specific character, or blank.. KevanGuy I think replaced the * with blank at one point, and I can't remember why.

That's a shame. If possible, could you consider putting a character back? *, ~, whatever... It's not ideal but it would make posts that used to contain a swear more readable.

I have an idea ... sell swear licences. A $100 donation gets you an S word licence for a year. $500 gets you everything up to and including unlimited use of one phallic word of your choice. $1000 gets you a year's worth of F bombs.

That's kind of like not swearing to attract more advertisers, but instead it would be paying to swear and drive away those annoying advertisers.

Some words get added to the swear filter because of how they get used. That one was added after we handed a lot of infractions for "Insulted another member" and people were using that word.
