They're currently selling at a rate of one every 4 seconds. I think it's time to take the tinfoil hat off.

I recently heard that Foxconn or whatever they're called announced plans to increase their workforce form 920 000 to 1.2 million people shortly. Holy ! they have a million people nimbly assembling our electronics?
They make stuff for other consumer electronic companies, not just Apple.

You don't know what you're talking about. The only thing happening on the 30th is you will have to contact AppleCare for a free bumper.
There is no reception issue, there is a attenuation issue in small percentage of phones.

Can't tell if serious?
I waited forever to get my grubby paws on an iPhone4, and while it pretty much everything I was hoping it would be, it definitely suffers from the dreaded antenna problem. Its a design flaw, present in all the iP4's produced thus far*
Im a righty, but hold the phone in my left hand. After a minute of holding it, my 3G reception craps out and I can't do anything online. I've got to switch to other, more awkward ways of holding it just to get reception back.
Cannot wait for my side body protectors to arrive.

I finally decided yesterday to take the plunge and get an iPhone. I went to Crossiron Mills this aft to see if i could stake out the Telus store waiting for their shipment. Waited and wandered around for about 2 hours. Finally when we were leaving, the Purolater guy shows up. No iPhones!
Went to Walmart afterwards. Walking by their electronic dept, I see they have a sign for the iPhone. I didnt even know they sold iPhones. Doubting that they would actually have them, i ask the guy unloading boxes. He doesn't seem to know, so after the girl at the till gets off the phone, i ask her. To my amazement, they just got some (5) Telus iPhones in!!! 30 minutes later I was out the door with the new phone! Sweet!
I know I'm lucky to have found one so quickly (first day of actual looking). I thought I would have to wake up early and hang out at Market Mall all day.
Now....which free case to get? Anyone have a recommendation?

The incase Snap case is excellent. Adds little to no bulk. I recommend it in smoke over clear due to the texture change (adds a nice feel to it) and doesn't show dust.

The update helped my 3G as well. I was able to make it usable again prior to the update by disabling spotlight search entirely, and hard-resetting every day or two to freshen it up. Since the update, however, I can use spotlight again (not that I do often anyway), and I don't have to do the old hard-reset anymore.
I'd love to have a 4 because it is many, many times faster than the 3G (not even comparable really), but for the time being I am happy with the 3G now that it has been de-crapified. It suits my needs and should for the next year or so until the contract is up for renewal.

not serious i would think
every single iphone4 has the same issue. It is easy to replicate and have done so myself.
there is only a thousand or so videos on youtube showing it;

I got the griffin Motif. The pitch was it was the smallest and not hard shell but not silicone either. Works for me.

I'm amazed at how difficult these things still are to find. Most places have insane waiting lists for the Rogers ones.
Got mine (Bell version) at wireless wave in Lethbridge yesterday. It was the only one they had, and two other people showed up asking about them while I was getting it activated. The guy at the store said they're having similar shortages with the Samsung Galaxy and HTC Legend. Apparently those phones share some common parts with the iphone 4, which was news to me. I thought everything apple did was proprietary.

Ordered mine from Apple.ca, bought it outright - took just over 2 weeks to ship, less then 3 days to deliver.
First phone I have purchased without a contract. I gotta say, I'm loving the freedom of going month to month.
I activated at Telus, but I'm really quite disappointed at how much 200min + 1GB of data costs ($65 a month? good lord...) Telus gives better deals for people who sign a contract, so I'll probably shop around better (which means Bell is the only other network I'll consider... Roger's can go eat a bag of d***)

See, this is what I don't get. What the freedom of having month/month plans when you end up with worse monthly rates than those of us under contract?
Unless you plan on skipping town within the contract period, I really dont get. You end up paying more a month and more for the upfront cost of the phone.

This sorta echoes my sentiment. I guess the only real '+' is the ability to swap out sim cards when in a foreign country.
I'm a student so it made more sense to get a student plan and a contract.

I signed a 3 year contract with SOLO Mobile before this. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a communications provider.
I will not enslave myself to another provider if I can afford to buy the phone outright.
If another provider offers a plan that makes more sense for me, or if my situation changes and I need to reconfigure my services - I can do that. Can't do that on a contract.

This.
I have been screwed enough by wording on contracts, changes in my situation that required different services and high bills with no leverage to lower them, that I will never sign another cell phone contract again.

Well today is my first day with my new iPhone 4 and I am loving it. So much better than a blackberry, but I will say the battery life really does suck on the iPhone. Oh well, I will take it with all the iPhone has to offer. This thing really is quite cool.
