In November Bruce Springsteen will release The Promise, a huge collection of unreleased music and tour footage packaged in a reproduction of Springsteen’s song notebooks. The Promise documents Springsteen and his band around the time he wrote and released his 1978 album Darkness On The Edge Of Town. Springsteen put up a stream of an unreleased song from those session, as well as a clip of the documentary. Have a listen to “Save My Love,”

After going years without a new studio release, Sufjan Stevens dropped the All Delighted People EP on us on Friday. And today Asthmatic Kitty announced that a full-length record from Stevens, titled The Age Of Adz will be out October 12. It is, as they point out, his first LP in five years.

Well with one half of Gnarls Barkley already releasing two albums this year, it looks like Cee Lo Green is coming out with a new album as well - in December. I love the new single, but I'm obviously a bit behind. It already went viral a week and a half ago.

25 bands cover 25 songs:

http://www.avclub.com/articles/neutr...k-hotel,38877/

This is cool, once you get past the Budweiser ads . . .

There's a new Superchunk album just around the corner, called Majesty Shredding. It comes out September 14 on Merge, and it's a rocker in that old-school Superchunk way. Get excited

Bad Religion's latest, The Dissent of Man comes out September 28th.

Not much of a fan of the song above, The Devil in Stitches, but I'll still give the album a try.

Weezer's new album titled Hurley is coming out September 14th. Weird album name, weird cover... Hurley from Lost.

And Cake has a new album coming out sometime in the fall, so that's good news for me.

Ben Folds collaboration with Nick Hornsby comes out at the end of Sept. On vinyl even. Might have to get a turntable for that one.

Body Talk Pt 2 by Robyn is out on Sept 7. Easily the best sugary sweet electro pop that the mainstream seems to want nothing to do with.

The new Crippled Black Phoenix - I, Vigilante is gawddamn amazing. Any fans of Mogwai (although very much different than Mogwai) should dig this album.

Also, Grinderman 2 is an excellent record. If you dug the first or any Nick Cave for that matter... check this one out.

Superchunk, Majesty Shredding (86 on 8 reviews):

I don't know how they escaped my attention until now. I guess I always thought the name was stupid.

I bought the record the other day. They've always been one of my favourite bands, and this new one is among their best work.

These two bands stand in such stark contrast to one another, IMHO. As a BR fan, I enjoy their writing, still like their sound, and I think they’ve aged pretty well, and grown up with their fanbase. As a Weezer fan up to the Green album, I look at Raditude and the track above and wonder what the hell they are doing and who their audience is anymore. I just do not get them at all anymore.

Brandon Flowers new album Flamingo is out now,and I think it's a very solid album (7.5/10). That said, I am huge fan of the Killers, so I would have been shocked had I not liked it.

Not a cd.....but a playlist!
http://www.polarismusicprize.ca/blog/218

Go to Sloth this weekend to get a free i-tunes playlist of Polaris prize short list nominees. Not sure if it is a replay but the show is on CBC radio 3 right now. My pick is Besnard Lakes but I think Shad or Owen Pallett will win...

The Walkmen - Lisbon. A really good band with another really good album.

I'm a huge fan of The Killers as well, and I was surprised I didn't like it. Crossfire and Magadelina (sp?) were among the better songs which mimicked The Killers, but aside from that, there were no hooks to keep you listening. I really like the intro to Crossfire though, as I'm a sucker for piano I guess, but it kinda had a Coldplay type intro.

Foster the People- Pumped up kicks.

I can't seem to find any of their other music, but this single was just released and it's kinda funky.
