Anyway a couple of questions, as a student I'd love very much to avoid paying the full fees.
So any tips on if I can get he reduced or how to do so? I have no prior tickets or accidents. Only one parking ticket.
Also I have no demerits, I'm wondering nothing was listed on the tickets
about
demerits I received for these tickets but would I get some automatically as well? And how I could get rid of those if at all possible?
Thanks everyone!

Man, I'm having a tough time deciding if I should continue messing with you, purely for the entertainment value.
Is green text REALLY that necessary these days? All 3 of my posts were pretty clearly poking fun at the morally righteous crowd that pops up in these threads, and the last sentence in my last post told him to go there anyways and use the system because that's what it's for.
Essentially, what you just told me to do........is exactly what I told him to do.

As has been said, go down anytime before the court date, stand in line to tell the one counter that you want to speak to the crown, then in all likelihood you'll want to go for a coffee to kill a bit of time, then wait come more u til they call you. Have a little story ready, and some apologies, and the fact that you're a struggling student. You may not need to say much, but be ready just in case.
I have gone in trying to tell them why I legitimately felt I had an issue with the ticket, and they didn't even care to hear it. But I have overheard 1 of the JP's that was really wanting some reasons why she should reduce this. I didn't get her, but be prepared to tell her why you deserve her mercy, just in case.
Well worth your time, and the cost of downtown parking.

Given that you are a student and don't have to miss a couple hours of work to wait in line, go downtown and talk to a justice of the peace and ask for a reduction in the fine. Tell them you're a student and that the fine is difficult for you to pay. If you catch them in a good mood they will likely reduce the fine by 15-20% and maybe even remove the demerits. I've done this a couple times with good success. Now that I'm working, it's not worth it to spend 2-3 hours away from work to save $50 on tickets.

Don't speed.
Can't really sympathise in this situation. However, one of our co-op students at work got nailed doing like 140kmh in a 100km zone. She went to court over it, cried, and got a reduced fine and demerits.

Just talk to the prosecutor and ask if you could have the fine reduced. Be sure to mention you have no demerits as that will work in your favour. Have done this a few times myself with great success.

From today's Calgary Sun:
http://www.calgarysun.com/news/colum.../15350641.html
Speed is only a factor in 6 out of 100 collisions in Alberta (one or more drivers indicated by the police as having been travelling at a speed too great for the given conditions) . It is a factor in 3 out 10 fatal collisions.
1. Police in Alberta wrote over $111M in speeding tickets between April 2009 and March 2010.
2. The Alberta government took the speeding statistics out of the 2009 Alberta Traffic Collision Statistics.
3. There's no indication of what "too great for the given conditions" means. Does driving over the speed limit automatically qualify?

You really shouldn't speed in a school zone at this time of the year. They normally have crackdowns at the beginning of the school year.

Haha, but other times of the year, it's ok?

Be prepared to have sex with the prosecutor.
It might be unpleasant if said prosecutor is of the same sex as you, but you might as well hold your nose and get busy, that $10.00 reduction in the ticket cost is totally worth it.
