Sounds like the deal might be done for $8M.

All I hope is that Flapianski isn't the backup keeper, becuase he will cost us MANY more points.
Wait till January now, I suppose.

That would be an incredible steal. VDV is one of my favourite players and will help Spurs immensely.

from harry
"It (The Rafael van der Vaart deal) is still dragging on. We have been trying to do something but we are waiting to see if it has all gone through and we are hoping it has. It's something to do with clearance. I think he was going to Bayern Munich yesterday for £18m and suddenly he became much cheaper. They let me know around 1600 BST that he was available for £8m and for that money he is a top player who will definitely improve us. The fee has come crashing down because the deadline is so close. He's a great passer of the ball, he's a top footballer, he will join in here and be a big plus for us. We were also interested in Ryan Babel, he was a player we made an enquiry about but it never came close."

VDV for 8m! Are you kidding me? Steal of the season for Spurs if this one comes off.

Arsenal signed Arshavin like a week after the deadline and blamed it on some snow
if the Premier league turns this down it would be ridiculous

I dont know what to say. Its an insane deal. It was a little late, but I dont know how sticky they get in regards to that.

decision is expected tomoro as to whether they got it through on time, if it was Cheslea or Man U I would have no doubts it gets passed
but who knows with Spurs...

Holy crap! Van Der Vaart for 8 million would be an unreal buy for Spurs. Talk about bang for buck, that's a steal for a well known player of his caliber.

I bet if this gets rejected, Levy turns the legal action button to 11 on the FA.

Gyan showed a lot of quality for Ghana in the WC. He played lone striker and faced at least 2 defenders at all times and always looked dangerous. He did it all by himself. I think his pace and strength is underrated because he doesn't really blow by people like a young Owen.
Most of his WC goals were penalties but I believe he also put the States away by receiving a through pass and beating two US defenders to get a good shot on. Golazo

each teams 25 man team for the season (until the transfer window in January) is here
http://www.premierleague.com/page/He...142220,00.html
no real big omissions, some teams didn't even name 25
only interesting thing to me was I thought it was that you needed 8 home grown players and that is not the case, its a maximum of 17 non homegrown players
so Arsenal only named 7 homegrown on their roster (although Gibbs and Wilshere are u21 so they don't need to be)
Chelsea only have 4 home grown players on their list of 19

Ancelotti wins manager of the month and Scholes player of the month.
No surprises there.

Agree on Scholes
I would have given manager of the month to Holloway though, I know Chelsea got maximum points but look who they played
the degree of difficulty in Blackpool picking up 4 points, including a win away was far greater

Also of note, Rooney returns to Everton tomorrow which is always hostile as is and with his recent personal BS it will be even more electric.
