Naheed was at a CHBA dinner.

I was a little surprised to see him there actually.

A decent looking woman, former local media personality, with little practical experience, and who's handlers try to make sure she reveals as little possible about herself prior to election time.

I wonder what newspapers she reads? Probably "all of them"...

Edit: Sorry not trying to be sexist, just saying we have seen this somewhere before...

I don't think that's entirely fair.

As incompetent as Higgins has been thus far in the campaign, I'm certain she's far more capable than Sarah Palin -- not that the bar was really set high there.
I hope more Calgarians wake up and realize that name-recognition alone isn't a meaningful measure to judge a candidate's qualifications, but I'm not overly optimistic. I really worry about the future of this city if the campaign turns into a two horse race between McIver and Higgins.

Yeah, this one's over a month old and was started right after Barb announced her intentions. There should be another poll to see how things have shifted...Then another one around Thanksgiving when the campaign is in its final stages.

From the people I've talked to who have McIver as their Alderman, they are all happy with the job he has done, as you have said BtC.

Yup.. That guy emits nothing but ridiculous hyperbole that verges on slander. He was attacking calgarydemocracy.ca because the guy who runs it is extremely left wing. I repeatedly asked him for evidence as to a bias on the site and all he ever said was that the guy who runs it is a left wing loony and that's all he needs to know to say that calgarydemocracy is full of crap.

I agree fully, but Grant equating flying to murder yesterday was pretty extreme.

That's my biggest worry with McIver.

I really don't like Bronco, but I will say that he's paying the price on his legacy for Duerr's inaction.

But, hey, people are tired of construction, except for when they need more roads to their neighbourhood in South Texas.

Yeah, that was crazy talk, but his work on Calgary Democracy is, in my mind, a completely separate issue.

Grant Neufeld. Wherever his political allegiances lie, he's done a lot for trying to make sure everyone has a fantastic solution for access to candidate information. I've even financially supported his effort to try to help people make an informed decision.

I have to admit it has me second guessing calgarydemocracy.ca when the one and only administrator calls for eliminating all airports because they are "murderers''.

And this morning is casting judgment on candidates with this statement:

I guess I'm able to see what he's doing with the website as something completely different from his political leanings.
It's like having to related passions: left wing politics, and political engagement in general.

For a hockey parallel, I am pretty passionate about writing about the Flames, but I also enjoy writing in general, not just on the Flames.
