I now own this game and am blowing off work so I can go to the gym this afternoon and play the game ALL NIGHT LONG

This game is.... Just ok. Certainly haven't gotten attached like the last 2 years.

The new charging penalties are really putting a cramp on my D style.

Played multiple EASHL 6v6 last night without disconnecting at the loading screen, no lag compared to 10, and only one game looped. I'm a happy man.

how were the mics for you guys? for us there seemed to be no improvement, maybe even a little worse than the last 2 years.

We don't use mics while playing - we generally find it distracting.

But in the DR it seems fine when 3 + users are on.

One of my teammates got a 5 min major in EASHL, and I heard a few people got game misconducts. That'll make it interesting come playoff time... lol

Stop playing that crappy mode!!! By supporting this crap you're all just delaying an online franchise mode, which would be a million times better than this ultimate team crap.

BTW did they fix the ability for forwards to boardplay as they are entering the zone to avoid being checked? Not that it's even that effective, but it looks really stupid.

Forwards can still self-boardplay. However if the d-man goes to check, instead of bouncing off the d-man, it automatically goes into the boardplay animation.

And it is still effective for those that know how to exploit it.

i played nhl10 onlne (eashl) almost exclusively. Never had issues with mic. Mostly, I feel like a twirp using it, so I never talk, but it's nice to hear the rest of the team ramble on about nothing. Haven't tried this year yet.

Not center ice, no. That would be out of position.

If you're skating backwards down the middle of your side of the ice (right side for me), and you see the opponent coming down along the boards, if you step into him now, it's a charging penalty. The announcer even says that if you take three steps before hitting someone, it's a penalty.

I wonder if they tightened up on the charging calls to try to force people to use the new hip checks instead. Whatever their reason, it's pretty ######ed.

You're on a 360 right? Mics work better on the 360, because it's running on Live infrastructure.

The PS3 mics are strictly in game and have never worked as well as on the Box.

I find my defensive instincts and position are more greatly applied to this game than the previous incarnation.

I love watching guys try their little cross crease bullspit, now all I have to do is work on my timing.

You have to initiate just a LITTLE earlier than last year.

I know how to do it, just like I knew how to do your behind the net wraparound goals, I just think it's lame.

interesting you bring that up... spike got kicked out of a game last night! his first game of the year and he got a game misconduct for boarding.

Ugh, I hate playing people in VS who just spin around all game long. Not realistic at all.

So, if you do this, you get to watch every single cutscene.
