Kelowna Colts NEW Hockey Jersey

so i'm pretty stoked - i talked to my men's ice hockey team and told them that even though i made new white jerseys for our upcoming season i had 'inspiration' one night and came up with a black jersey (ahhh.... the joys of owning my own embroidery company.... we are by far the best dressed team in the league! ha! ha!). so far i've only made up one jersey - to see if the real deal would be just a cool as the computer mock-up... personally, i think it's waaaaaaay cooler than the mock-up.


so here are our current jerseys... a white and a red....




and my helmet painted to match....




and now the new black jersey... we need to get some "wear" into our new white jerseys, so we won't be sporting these until the new year. the jersey is a blank of the black ottawa third jersey that says 'sens' across the chest





front logo... just like what's painted on the top of my helmet...




we play in the PPHL (pepsi premiere hockey league) - so i thought it would be fun to put the logo on the throat - just like the rbk nhl jerseys.... and i have no clue if the pphl even has a logo - i just made this one up! ha! ha!




left shoulder gets a canada flag... just like the flames!!






right shoulder get a new kelowna colts logo - sort of a combination of 2 shoulder patches.... the phoenix coyotes and the barrie colts. one of the guys on my team wants this logo on the chest for a forth jersey! ha! ha! ...this is only our second season in the league.... i think we'll wait a bit before adding a forth jersey!






and the back. the text is the ducks 'font' and the numbers are the capitals 'font'






all lettering is stitched on pro twill and the namebars are made from jersey material.... yup - i buy jerseys and cut them up for name bars... such a waist!!!







on the bottom right hand side of the jersey is where athletic knit (AK) puts their really ugly white/blue/red logo. usually i cover it with my own company logo - but i thought for kicks i'd make a kelowna colts patch to put over it - i think it's pretty sweet!






so there you have it - my team's new jersey. like i said - we're the best looking team on the ice... even when we get our butts whipped!! ha! ha!

no - i don't have a webpage - basically for insurance purposes becuz it opens me up to an international market. another part of my biz is that i write programs for embroidery companies and becuz the machines have moving parts that can cause injury i can be sued if some moron is stitching out one of my designs and sticks his/her hand into the stitching area... seriously. i asked my insurance provider if there isn't a "dumb a$$" clause and apparently not. a similar situation played out in the states where an employee at a mill got his hand cut off and ended up suing the guys who programed the saws.

so no - no webpage. however - if you want to do really cool stuff there is a company in calgary that i do work for (yup - they send stuff to kelowna, bc to get done up and we ship it back)...

i just bought some used goalie gear - and it was from guys that played for the rockets. the pads were red/white/teal.... it's amazing how well a black jiffy marker covers up teal coloured leather!! ha! ha!

I'm guessing that since there have been a significant amount of changes to said logo that it differs enough from the original that it would not be considered too similar to cause "market confusion."

The crests on the white and red jerseys... not so much.

The Ogopogo is the 'icon' (symbol - call it what you will) of Okanogan Lake which as you know is connected to Kelowna. The connection makes sense to me.

And for everyone driving through Vernon - Kalamaka Lake is native for "Lake of many colors" - atleast from what I've been told.

i live in kelowna - i know ogopogo is the "icon" of okanagan lake...that's fine... what i don't get is why are they called the rockets?? i know they moved from tacoma and they have and they have an aerospace industry so 'rockets' make sense... but once they moved to kelowna why not change the name since kelowna doesn't really have much to do with rockets.... and their current logo has nothing to do with rockets.

to me it just doesn't make much sense

hopefully games 2 & 3 this weekend will go better.
