I found Week 1 to be risky all around. I don't feel comfortable with my pick at all.
I'll probably lose because I'm going against the Raiders. Always a sound strategy in theory, but it bites me in the ass every time.

No way the Saints lose this game. They'll be fired up, the home crowd will be into it, and their offence is pretty much the same unit they had last year.
Why try saving the Saints if you ain't gonna live to see week 2? I lasted like 12 weeks last year and still had Indy, and the Saints when I lost out. The really elite teams in this league win a lot of games in the first 10 weeks and than tend to rest up down the stretch.

I've got the Fins in week 1. I also took Buffalo in a loser pool and told my mom to do the same. My only worry is CJ Spiller.

No way? 50/50 IMO. Week One is always a coin toss, and the Vikings are a very good team - could have won the NFC last year if Favre didn't throw the pick at the end. MIN dominated the game statistically IIRC. NO needed a late FG to win.
I hope the Saints win, but I would not bet on the outcome of this game.

I'm in now too.
Didn't know about this until I thought about asking if anyone knows of any pools with cash prizes. Looked in this subforum, and came across this.
Does anyone know of any pools with cash prizes?

That was last year. This years Vikings are a year older at a lot of key positions, and I think Farve still isn't fully recovered from that final game. They also don't have their top receiver, and I don't know if Percy Harvin will be in peak form yet.
Simply put I have a lot more confidence in the Saints abilty to open the season at home with a win, than I do for a team like Miami to go on the road in a place where they've struggled at times in the past. The Titans at home against a Raider team who couldn't stop the run last year is probably the only other game I'd pick.

This is hard to pick a winner for week 1. I was going to take Miami but my head keeps tell me Buffalo wins by 3. I guess I'm going to roll with San Diego and I don't feel good about this pick at all.

Seems like most people picked Tennessee, Miami or the NY Giants.
Looks like everybody except for 1=2 people at this point (1 person picked San Fran and 1 picked Arizona) will get through to week 2. Of course the Niners game is only in the 3rd quarter and they are only down by 15. Arizona is tied at the half.
