Default Girl Attacked in Calgary Schoolyard or Kids will be Kids?

Since people complain that "we" care more for animals than people, here is a story to warm the cockles of your heart:

A girl as young as 12 was attacked, and possibly raped, in a northeast schoolyard just before the supper hour Monday as a group of youths looked on and took photos.

I hope the bystanders who watched and took photos and videos are charged with something as well. Can they be?

Accessory to a crime is what the bystanders should be charged with? How could anyone watch someone being raped.

I am sure they will be. I am also sure, since they are all around 12, that nothing much will come of it, given the young offender status. Just a mere bump on their way to trailer park white trash existence (assuming they are white).

That's a bit of a stretch considering it's in the NE.

Yeah, this makes me ill. It makes one wonder about the social conditions that these kids were raised in.

This is why when I have kids, especially a girl, they will be in some sort of martial arts/kickboxing class from as early an age as possible.

and when I have kids, especially a girl, I'll be following along 100 metres behind her with a shotgun at all times.

It may impact her social life slightly but jesus christ "kids these days".

I remember watching a Steven Segal movie once (I think it was "Out for a Kill"). Anyways, there was this one part where he fended off a guy by gouging the guy's eyes out with his thumbs. If I ever have a daughter, that's the move I'm teaching her to do should a situation like this arise.

I went to Sansom and I am not evil. (I think) There is houses completely surrounding that field, surprised no one came out and intervened.

I think the reason people speak out more about animal abuse is that crimes like this are so horrific, we can't even comprehend them. We don't want to discuss it because we don't want to think about it at all. We can personalize things like this happening to us and we don't want to. It doesn't lessen the horror we feel at hearing about things like this though. It just means we have a hard time putting into words how disgusted we are by it. We cannot believe that one human could do this to another. And to have bystanders?! I sincerely hope that none of the bystanders were girls allowing another girl to be raped. That is just... there are no words. One could say that they have no idea what it's like, but it's not hard to imagine how, what may be this girl's first sexual experience being raped in front of a crowd affects her mentally.

This is bullying at it's worst. It's bullying that's so bad, it's criminal. But think about it; how and why would others just watch? Because it's funny? Yeah.

I just can't even imagine. I sincerely hope the young woman can rise up above this.

Apparently there was girls watching. Knowing that field well, I cant believe no one intervened, There is houses literally attached to that field, albeit shady houses back when I was attending school there 20 years ago. They are probably crack houses now.

Girl's these days seem to be more compliant to the boy's, which was not the case when I went to school. The hot girls had all the power.
