I do not commend the way he points out the Chinese record on animal rights...but he has a point.

All I'm saying is that the Chinese certainly don't put much of an emphasis on human/animal rights in their society. It's truly pathetic.
Cultural differences don't really make them a subspecies I guess.

Horrific slaughter of dog in Beijing
I live in Beijing China, and have seen so many disturbing and disgusting exaples of animal cruelty, once witnessing the slaughter of a dog, in front of a dog meat restaurant, on one of the busiest streets in town, on the sidewalk, with pedestrians passing. The dog had been hung up, while alive i might add, by a hook through it's chin. Legs tied together. In one swift motion a man stabbed the dog in the neck and proceeded to slice the dog open all the way down. An ocean of blood is the only way I could describe it. I had to turn away, and tried to leave as fast as i could, but the sounds the dog was making, the screaming, not a wail or a whimper, but screams, almost human, definately unnatural, were audible down the street, even as i tried to escape the sight, i was haunted by the sound. It was truly one of the most inhumane things I've ever seen, and one of the most traumatic.

Plenty of "western" animal cruelty can be found on youtube.

Honestly I'm more concerned about their human rights abuses.

Until these animal rights activists turn their attention to the problems in their own back yard (the mass and inhumane fur farm operations throughout Europe), I'll have no respect for them.

Isn't Morrissey the guy that refuses to perform in Canada because he is protesting the seal hunt?

Say what you want folks, but if what Pinner posted above is true, that's a freakin' outrage.
And to those that don't like Morrissey, that's fine, but I've always been a big Smiths fan. How Soon Is Now, is one of the best songs of the 80's. I would say between that song and Just Like Heaven from The Cure, you've got two of the greatest songs of the decade.

Now if had been a pig in pinner's example and not a dog would it still be an outrage?

To a certain extent, yes. I think that animals that we eat should be killed humanely.
Not to mention though, with a dog, we have them as pets for craps sake...not too many households around here with pigs walking around the house.
But just the same, killing ANY animal in the street like that is inhumane.

It should be done out in the country, like, say, Brooks.
Chinese people are, generally, poor, and eat the way the way they do because they don't really have any other choice other than to starve to death.

China is a human-rights backwater and a cesspool of animal abuse, but the racist way he points that out goes to far, in my opinion.

i guess...really shouldn't make a difference though..pet or not..
inhumane is inhumane..my point is as soon as its a dog it doesn't matter if it's humane or not some people would still be outraged.thats all i was checking
