Default Trading Kings!!!

So I thought Id look back at the last few months of trades to see who is the CPHL trading king. Im sure everyone has their idea who is the biggest wheeler and dealer...and I thought I knew as well. Summer should be a time where teams have high activity rebuilding or restocking.
I was wrong wrong wrong....

The King of trades over the last 101 deals in the CPHL is the Florida GM with 25 deals, or active in a full quarter of trades over this time...way to keep the league active Matt!!
A close 2nd was the Capitals Aaron Hesla with 21 deals and a distant 3rd, Columbus GM Dave Penney who I thought would be the reigning King, tied with the Commish and head of the Wild, Grant, at 14 deals each.

A few teams at zilch, and five teams at 2 or less deals over that span? Interest waning?

Florida Panthers 25
Washington Capitals
21
Columbus Blue Jackets 14
Minnesota Wild 14

Los Angeles Kings 12
Toronto Maple Leafs 10
Atlanta Thrashers 9
Colorado Avalanche 9
New Jersey Devils 9
New York Rangers 9
Philadelphia Flyers 8
St. Louis Blues 7
Calgary Flames 6
Montreal Canadiens 6
Anaheim Mighty Ducks 5
Carolina Hurricanes 4
Chicago Blackhawks 4
Edmonton Oilers 4
Pittsburgh Penguins 4
San Jose Sharks 4
Detroit Red Wings 3
Nashville Predators 3
Phoenix Coyotes 3
Buffalo Sabres 2
Dallas Stars 2
New York Islanders 2
Ottawa Senators 2
Tampa Bay Lightning 1
Boston Bruins 0
Vancouver Canucks 0

So I was 7th over the last few months, interesting. The last few months is my slowest time of the year for trades. Most of my trades happen during the season and mainly from January-April. I expect to be in the top 5 for sure again just like every year in that department.

It feels like I've been more active than a measly three deals....guess I should buckle down and make some more deals here.

Tied for 7th is about right for me. I am still working on my team but I am also very happy with a lot of my players. As soon as my team starts to play like crap then you will see a lot more coming from the Avs.

By the way... how did you find this information?

I did ignore all moves made by teams dropping AHLers or singular actions.

This list is comprised of the last 101 transactions made by two teams.

Interest waning? No. Not really. That's just the way it is. I made some deals at the trade deadline and before UFA period hit.

No...there is simply no one to deal with...same 5 guys online all the time and we all have the same conversation every time.

I'd suggest start using PM as a tool more. Many of us aren't on MSN as much anymore because our jobs won't allow it. As such - the game has changed - PM's have become just as important as MSN.

It also depends on when you are on MSN - different people are on different times of the day.

Realistically, I should have the Hurricanes sitting roughly at 9 so I'm sitting at ha;f pf where I see myself should be sitting.

I should just go and trade two 5ths for a 4th 20 times like the Panthers to bump up my trade count!

As much as you would like us all to trade via PM that tool is only useful when you have a trade narrowed down...the negotiation process in "most" cases works far better online.
Ive sent PMs to many GMs and have had less than half answered.
I think in a Fantasy game the GMs need to be active..or at least appear that way...otherwise it is just a snoozefest.
If a team hasn't made any deals of any kind in the last two months, then either their team is a definite contender, or there is simply no interest.

I don't know if I have issues with my MSN, but I'm online pretty much 8am - 6pm Mon - Fri except for the last month...and I've seen you on there maybe 3 times. Have you been on there more?

As for the Habs, 6 trades sounds a little low....I think I probably made 10 trades prior to the draft alone. If we're just talking after the draft then that sounds right.

I'm always fairly active, although the last month has been busy so I haven't been able to do as much unfortunately.

Frankly I disagree - I've completed deals easily over PM. In fact I'd say half of mine have been made that way.

But it's a process that forces GMs to be more reasonable with their offers because if the starting point is not good it takes too long.

So maybe you're low-balling GMs?

The league assesses activity in many different ways - not just trading. Being an active dealer is just one tactic and is not a guarantee of success. In fact patience can be equally as important.

If the league has concerns about how a GM is performing we will address it with those players on an individual basis. So no one should get worried just because they appear near the bottom of the list.

Well I agree to disagree Grant. In most cases I just reach out to see if a GM is interested in dealing or thinking about dealing without making any offers at all. Most go unanswered.
Patience is a great thing as long as your team is successful and generally reaching the playoffs and winning consistently...much like your team. You take a great interest in your team, and it shows.
Success of your team isnt always the best thing as well...sometimes success as a league is just as important. Stagnation due to lack of trades and discussion is a part of that.
At least go online a few times a week and discuss....you can do it with your job so I'm sure most others can as well. What is with the aversion to MSN?
