It's a pretty common term on car blogs and amongst car people.....whether it used by the general population, no idea.

I always thought "daily driver" was a reference to someone's wife. Who knew.

Makes sense for a grocery getter to have a shopping cart handle.

Whats worse are the new cars which cut the ignition or fuel injection electronically when the brake pedal is depressed.

Hey that isnt cheap. You gotta spool it versus an NA car or you're already behind.

Naive car question: Someone scraped against my car and scraped off two dime size spots of paint. How much is this going to cost me?

I'd say around $500. They'll sand and paint the entire panel not just the two spots. Otherwise the color wont match and you'll know its been fixed.

Left foot braking in corners, heel and toe downshifting. All useless with these new computer controlled throttles

What?! Can't they just touch it up?!

Actualy, I just checked, the spots are smaller than the head of a needle and they are down by the wheel well, not noticable at all. I just want some rust protection, you know?

They could but it won't look right. Unless the paint is brand new on the car you'll see the spots. To make it look like it was never repaired they'll paint the entire panel and blend it into the adjacent panels. Those little touch up container make it look like nail polish.

I'm guessing yes, based on them driving through a red light.

All this stuff takes away from the act of driving which I think is the funnest part. All this stuff has potential to be unsafe as well (the more stuff you have to distract you, the less time you have to pay attention to the giant real life movie outside of your windshield).
I agree about a lot of the media stuff. Although most people don't care about the driving experience and just want all the gizmo's possible. Personally I would prefer to have a car with the media room and all the jazz for driving around during the week and long road trips and have a bare bones driving car for the weekends.
