Default +/- instead of "thanks"

Hey is there something in the forum software that can do a +/- rather than Thanks?

It seems like good things are encouraged but bad things arent discouraged really...

The Atlanta Falcons board has this and I like it... it might help cutting down on thread derailments and such? (bottom right)

Nope, there's nothing that can do that (or wasn't the last time I checked anyway). Plus the disadvantage of a - is that unpopular opinions can get minused down just as easily as stupid ones.

OK how about an ammendment to the rules that people shouldnt question the validity of a thread? God its getting annoying having pages of bitching and bickering... I'll admit, I'm in there having my say... but I'm trying to ask people to stop bitching at every single thread.

It is the cancer.

Do you really need to carry over that pissing match to another thread?

Part of it is learning to let things go dude.

For those that brought up CDC...they actually did away with that system. Really, no system is going to help eliminate a certain opinion or type of post.

So what, now suggesting in the suggestion section isn't OK? I didnt bring anything in here other than that! Suggestions come from use of the forum and thinking about what can be improved.

You think that issue stems from that thread alone? Why are so many regulars talking about it in the CP Hostility thread? Why are so many people finally getting fed up with this stuff? It is ruining numerous conversations around the board and I'm not the only poster who's getting annoyed by it. Obviously it matters to CP users.

Cripes dude I'm just saying relax. Someone made a valid point about your thread - I think they carried it too far - but it was still valid.

The problem isn't necessarily people bringing stuff up it's the bickering that follows.

If people could just walk away from the occasional fight and take the higher round there wouldn't be as many problems.

I think if people are going to make a point they should be ready for counter points... and yes, people can walk away from arguments, but that doesnt solve it for the next time... and on this topic there have been infinite next times.

I understand what you are saying about the bickering, it is annoying, but it wouldnt even be there if every second thread didnt have the same problem.

It's your message board- but I believe in my point here and it just comes down to the principal for me. Not everyone's like that- maybe i'm that way to a fault?

You guys do good work on a tough job but I thought my suggestion would make it easier and make some peace. Anyways I've had my say. I'll shut up now.

I would like to be able to "thank" my own posts, sorta how Facebook allows you to "like" your status updates.

I think it would have the same effect as those blue squares we used to have. Maybe there wouldn't be a concrete consequence, but people might think twice about they are posting after seeing a post go -11 or so.
