The US did a great job paving the way for Iran!

Does anyone have any idea what it's actually like living in Iraq now (not as a soldier)?
The state of Iraq seems to have sort of dropped off the map as a topic of interest in North American media.

Probably because its not as bad as it originally was.
Also, interestingly enough the cost of the whole war was less than the cost of the stimulus bill.

The war was Bush's own stiumuls bill. The military industries have and always will be some of the best industries to kickstart an economy with.... financially speaking that is.

I was actually supportive of the war once we went in, I think it has a chance to become a success story decades down the road.
But as many here I'm sure we all hold our breaths at this becoming another theocracy and return to sectarian violence which was kept at bay under a murderous regime for so many decades.

It would be cool if 20 or 30 years down the road Iraq was a vacation and tourist spot for people from all over the world. Visit some ancient Babylonian sites and have a grand ole time.

If we still can't detect IEDs in 20 years by using robots and other technology we should just kill ourselves and be done with it.
Pretty sure there is technology out there that can remotely detonate a discovered IED.

So, really, all a family would need to have a grand ole time in Iraq is their trusty IED detecting robot.

Good to see Obama live up to a key election promise. The people spoke, he listened, made a promise and is now acting up on it.
It was never a popular war but hopefully no matter one's view, the brave soliders along with their sacrifices are never forgotten. My last visit to DC I really enjoyed seeing the memorials from the World Wars, Vietnam etc. I trust we'll see something like that in the near future for these brave soliders.

If Vietnam and Cambodia can become tourist sites, so can Iraq.

With all due respect, Iraq doesn't have pho or salad rolls... The cards are definitely not in their favour.
