Flamez bounce back with an 8-2 win over the now 6th place Sliders (who has gone inactive), and stay in 7th spot. Smokies win over the team that beat me last week in a 4-3 squeeker, and jump all the way to 4th!
I next play the team in 8th, who's only two points back...if I can win the path to 6th place is much easier as the sliders appear to be sliding (...). Luckily the 8th place team plays on low/normal so me playing on normal/breaking should be a big advantage.
One last thing; Chalms we play on Sept 1st, would you agree to play on low so we both save energy? Of course tactics would still be usable

Keep on losing in my league, keep on winning in National Cup. Now the second lowest seed left in the NC, but in my league I'm stuck in 17th place right now. I need to find a way to kick start my team out of regulation!

I always manage to give up a late goal, which takes a hit to my league-leading save%.

Yeah I'm cool with that... you're going to find a way to beat me anyways, haha.

Lost one today after 11 straight wins.

with 43 seconds to go...
Frederick Delaroche feeds Louis Snow who is camped right on the doorstep. Instead of shooting he makes an incredibly cheeky blind pass for the unmarked Joel Hall who takes a shot... and scores! No, sorry about the confusion but I thought that went in just like all the people in the arena. But this save by Rihards Puriņš was just incredible. He has shown he has got quick feet and he managed to go from post-to-post fast enough to stop the puck. Just unbelievable!!! A miraculous save.
And you win Chalms! good game!

He's got me beat in team rating 140.68 to 129.15, but my leading scorer is back from a short injury, so that should help. Normal/Breaking it is!

Great day for Smokies and Flamez in IV.11. Flamez win 3-0, and build a 5 point lead on 8th place and are now tied for sixth after beating the (former) third place team. Smokies take over third after beating the 8th place team 5-1.

Probably could have beat him on low, but every point versus a playoff team counts!
Now I've just got to get to second place so I'm almost guaranteed to not play the Flamez in the fist round.

Won today 5-1, my goalie made 38 saves. That puts me out of regulation and back into 16th place, with three easy games coming up. Another National Cup game coming up tomorrow for me, should be the toughest yet, considering playing on high.

Good luck in the NC, I saw you're playing another div II team so you should at least have a chance!

What's the energy hit for playing on high?

It's 2.0. I've decided to play on Normal because I'm playing away, and I found that high as the away team = penalties. I'm going to go Normal/Counterattacks, because I've played normal tactics 4 out of the past 5 games, and he changes his tactics up so I think he's going to play breaking up the play. Do you think that's a good guess?

Flamez continue dominance of Smokies
Just a day before the two rivals faceoff in a critical regular season match, the Flamez hosted the Smokies in a friendly affair. The smokies, sitting in 3rd spot in league IV.11, have beaten every team this year except for the 7th place Flamez, incredibly going 0-6 (including one regular season loss) against the Flamez. This game proved no different.
After a tight two periods, with the Flamez leading 2-1, there was an explosion of goals in the third, with the Flamez outscoring the Smokies 6-3 in the period, giving the Flamez an 8-4 win. Smokies star goaltender Rihards Puriņš sat out the game in favour of the backup Habal, which may have resulted in the high scoring affair.
However even with an 0-7 record (including friendlies), the Smokies can even the important regular season series at 1-1 tomorrow when they host the Flamez.

So I'm off to the final 32 in the National Cup with a 4-3 Overtime win today! By far the best I've ever been in the NC, and also the second lowest seed since season 1 to make it to the final 32. A bright spot on a disappointing season.
