Default 3 reasons to give up meat; 1 not to

Am I the only one who reads this and thinks it is totally out to lunch? Science is not my strength, so maybe this is over my head... but maybe not?

Paging Photon...

Quote:
However, I believe that generally, it’s possible to feel more fantastic eating a vegetarian diet than it is eating meat. The reason being simply that your body will be lighter – yes, most likely in terms of weight, but also and more importantly in terms of photons. Your body actually contains light. You are light. That’s why we eat sunlight and drink water. That’s what we are.
I get reason #2... that one's all good.

Quote:
But what a difference there is between killing an animal with respect and dignity, out of necessity, and ‘growing’ animals industrially with no basic rights (fresh air, clean water, a little space) in order to slaughter them in a manner that is at best cruel, but usually amounts to torture.
Scientists tell us that everything is energy. What happens to the energy of suffering, pain, and indignity caused by our meat industry? Because you know, energy cannot be created or destroyed, only converted to another form. What happens to that energy I wonder? What happens to it…?

I'd stop reading that garbage at, you are light. I've never eaten sunlight, anyone know what it tastes like?

The idea that you're eating actual photons is a bit much to me. Plant based food might be better for you, but that isn't the reason why.

Don't you know
We're all light
Yeah, I read that someplace
Don't you know
We're all light
Yeah, it's a bumper sticker someplace
So you won't mind if I kiss you now
We may hear the angels recite
Don't you know in this new Dark Age
We're all light

Neutron walks into the bar, asks the bartender, "how much for the drink"?. Bartender says "no charge".

I respect people who choose to be vegetarians for humanitarian reasons.

I have yet to ever hear a valid, scientific argument for vegetarianism for health reasons.

This article obviously does nothing to sway me.

#1 reason not to eat meat: scientific studies have shown a vegetarian diet to be more healthy, resulting in reduced risk of heart disease and cancer among other benefits.

#1 reason to eat meat: it tastes AWESOME!

I'm sure I'd feel more fantastic eating a vegetarian.. haha

I feel pretty fantastic but to feel more fantastic would be so much better? Is this level of fantasticness benchmarkable? lol

There is a point in that 'meat' is being raised in conditions that they never were supposed to be subject to. Outside of that the article is completely out to lunch.

The fact that you used the word "benchmarkable" in a sentence is fantastic.

If the beef is fed a vegetarian diet, that makes you vegetarian by proxy, no?

I stopped eating meat once...but after I had a swig of beer and a bite of bread, I started again.
