Kind of like Don Cherry. Or a televangelist.

Or pretty much anyone in the States. The place is so polarized now that if one side said the sky is blue, the other side would dispute it.

Does anyone else expect that, at the height of the rally, Glenn Beck will rip off his full face latex mask and reveal himself to be Tina Fey?

I've only watched one of Glenn Beck's shows, and that was the one about the H1N1 scare. It was extremely well done, and he did not say whether he had taken the shot or not, leaving the viewers to decide for themselves whether to get it.
From what I hear, he's got a pretty big fanbase, and I've heard some people say he's so popular because he represents "middle America", whatever that means.

He's just another example of someone who tries to paint the 'right wing' as a bunch of crazy lunatics.

Right, left.....the polarizing view goes both ways, and both sides are at fault for the situation the US is in.

WORD...

The problem is the middle is being shouted over by the extremists on both sides. On one side is the "grassroots" tea party on the other the "grassroots" moveon.org. Same Same. Nothing is getting done and each side will get voted out every 4 to 6 years until something happens. US sooooo needs a viable third party right now.

I'm 100% calling BS on this post. Whether you identify with him or not is another issue, but to say you know very little of him is to suggest you turn off Fox News during the precise hour he takes to the airwaves every day, and then turn it back on right after. Seems a little to convenient.

Also, I think the conservatives of America should have more to fear in Beck than the progressive side of things. He causes more damage than any moderate conservative ever could, regardless of his success. His antics are taken seriously on a daily basis by millions of people. It's scary.

If the extreme left is a mirror image of the extreme right, then what is the equivalent of the Tea Party on the other side? Where are the rallys and who on MSNBC is organizing them?
As I know very little about it, how is moveon.org on the extreme left? Is universal health care and improving the environment now considered "extreme views"?

don't you remember the Obama rallies from before the election? all the anti-Bush protests? the extremists are pretty quiet when it's their side in power, did anyone even know who Glen Beck was when Bush was still in office?

A broken clock may never be right. You haven't specified how it's broken. It may be busted into a million pieces. Or may have the hands snapped off.

A stopped clock on the other hand...

He's been around for quite some time, and I actually enjoyed watching him until his latest schtick. He was always a little strange, not always inline with reality (or at least my version of it) but he was at least reasonable.

Then he realized he could make millions acting like the illegitimate love child of Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. Took about 15 minutes of that act before I shut him off.

In the US, from people I've talked to, these are considered extreme views. There are a lot of people opposed to socialism and forcing people to do things (ie. forcing everyone to purchase health insurance).

From listening to some of the news coming out of the states, it appears that the average person screaming about these things don't actually know what socialism, communism and fascism actually are and that they're actually... ya know... different things.

So what is the problem with this.
Its not against MLK, if anything its helping to celebrate all of Americas history including MLK (I must have missed the link that confirmed that not all donations go 100% to the charity). This evil event which has the ultra secret agenda of ... funding college for children of those who were killed in service .. oh my, what a terrible thing to support, the audacity of some people.

I realize some people in the world despise everything conservative and think we all want the army, with guns, on the street, in the cities, and that we all have some over arching secret agenda but not all of us are members of the jonathan stuart leibowitz bj corps.

Assuming of course that that's the actual purpose, and not the self agrandizement of a media figure who has made an entire career, and millions of dollars, doing just that.

I don't really have a problem with the event, it's just as much his right to say what he wants as it is anyone elses. The man is a fear monger and nothing more, but he has a right to say whatever he wants and hold whatever events he wants.
