Default So about Glenn Beck's little 'Restoring America' Rally...

Is he actually doing this on MLK Day in the US? At the same place as King's speech? Is he really claiming he was unaware that his rally was on MLK Day? Is he dumb enough to compare his 828 rally to the moon landing and Rosa Parks? What the Hell is wrong with (anyone who listens/watches him in) America? Is Sarah Palin going to show up? Do the attendees know any 'donation' is actually going to fund the costs of this rally, not to the troops (OK, to be honest, anything over and above the cost of the rally will be handed to charity)? Is there any way a Beck/Palin ticket isn't going to be the funniest thing in the history of American politics?

Remember, America, believe in Glenn Beck.

Yep.

Something for us marxists to stay sane...

In all honesty though, the ability for Beck to spew such nonsense with such success, it scares me.

Paging HOZ.

I had read something online about Glenn Beck's name being brought up possibly in connection with the rape and murder of a young girl in 1990. I haven't heard him deny any of this. Anyone know why? I'm just asking questions...

Holy crap, why am I kind of agreeing with Glenn Beck? He's got some of the stuff, right. Too bad he's a maroon.

He's just over the top. In a lot of different ways.

But nobody in their right mind can ignore the fact that the US has problems.

He is asking for no one to bring political or protest signs. He seems to want this to be about values and America. Yes Sarah Palin will be there. She is donating her time. It sounds like there are some religious undertones to his agenda as well. That part I'm not too thrilled with but, whoever attends will probably be OK with it. Beck is the only one promoting this so the crowd will no doubt be on the same page as him.

He is saying there has been more buses chartered for this event than the big tea party rally a few months ago. I guess we'll know Saturday how big it turns out.

Sarah Palin is not going to be President of the United States in two years.

Probably because you worked at a right-winger think tank and it's clouded your vision? Just kidding bro!

MLK's birthday is in January, and is celebrated then. His "I have a dream" speech was on 8/28/63.

Dumb, or arrogant?

There was a movie on TCM tonight that has been compared to the rise of Glen Beck. The movie was from the 50s. I wish I could remember the name now. It starred Andy Griffith and Patricia O'Neil.

Yeah, I agree. I was just saying that I think he's saying some of the right things, but it's mixed in with a bunch of crap.

You being a maroon has nothing to do with Jon Stewart's unfunniness.

Fair enough. I think the overall theme of his point of view is racist and violent. But, yes, I have also agreed on individual points with Beck. Although I'm not sure he believes anything he says either.

I don't think he does either. It's a show, an act. He's made his millions taking advantage of the atmosphere of hate and fear in the US after the attacks.

I'm not sure he believes a word he says. He's milking his audience for $.

Kind of like Don Cherry. Or a televangelist.
