That shot was basically just to show off what the theme can do. Those clouds are moving across the screen and appear only once, as you see here.
The RSS feed rotates through a number of sources. For me jailbreaking allows:
Syncing to iTunes over Wi-fi
Wireless hotspot
Multitasking that spanks native multitasking in iOS4
Wi-fi apps over 3G (Skype most importantly)
It is these things that put "pro in productivity". Customizing the phone is just a fun bonus. But since you're so caught up on the homescreen, it looks basically like this now, I just use an app for RSS (NewsRack, highly recommend it)

I took the screenshot to show the weather, like I said the clouds aren't always there. Either way a covered widget beats what you get in iOS4 without jailbreaking.... oh yeah... nothing.
This isn't mine, but this is one guy's homescreen which is pretty cool.
Point is, the next version of iOS surely must have widgets if they want to keep pace. Great hardware and media integration will only go so far.
i don't think so.... they may get them in consistantly but they basically get sold those days as well.
I just got mine from Futureshop and it took my buddy, who works there, to tell me they just received some. I got there for the store opening and they had 2 rogers, bell and telus phones come in. (6 total) By the time i left they were all sold. (20 mins)

When Guitar Hero for Wii was crazy short stocked, we would always go to BestBuy on Friday morning and they would have the new stock that had shipped in the previous evening.
Might be a good place to try to snag one.

Wi-fi apps over 3G (Skype most importantly)
Although it is a moot point for you as you are jailbroken, Skype now works over 3G on non-jailbroken iPhones. And it isn't too bad either.
When that functionality was released, Skype indicated that they would be chraging a premium for it eventually. After some backlash from Skype users, they have since announced that they won't be charging for calls over 3G. (And, in my opinion, rightfully so. You're already using your own data from your plan.)
When I travel (within Canada, obviously), the Skype app and some Skype credit that I purchased means that I can call long distance for really cheap (or free if they're on Skype) over 3G.
Should have clarified, within range of Wifi, obviously. The last time I was in Texas I was with my friend the whole time who had AT&T unlimited data. Connected to his MyWi and I was good to go.
may be a really dumb question.... does the apple store now have them consistently in stock?
I walked over to look at cases at 1:30 and the line-up was just as long as when I got mine a week earlier...still going to be a few weeks before you see the phone consistently in stock
Multitasking that spanks native multitasking in iOS4
I don’t get this one - in what possible way could you need/use fully preemptive multitasking on the iPhone? And more importantly, with no virtual memory, what do you do when an app wants more RAM than is available, because its expecting to have access to the full device? Do you spend all your time watching the amount of free RAM on the device to avoid having stuff crash?
I don't get the love for backgrounder (if that's what is being used). I must be using it wrong because if stops working at seemingly random times and i could never tell if i was enabling it or disabling it.
sclitheroe, I don't have any memory issues with the multitasking... nothing crashes. Even with the memory down to 20 MB or so the phone doesn't lag any more than it does with 100+ free, so I stopped paying attention to it. All I really want to run is TweetDeck, Facebook, Safari and CBC Radio without it being a pain in the ass to switch between them.
Russic, not sure if you were doing this or not but ideally you need to use an app in combination with Backgrounder to multitask properly; I use Circuitous to control it, looks like this but I moved that pop-up dock to the bottom like iOS4...
Which looks like iOS4 multitasking yes, but what makes it better is the control of it using Activator. Swipe gestures from the corner of the screen to cycle/close apps, double tap status bar to cycle, double press home button to cycle apps, etc. etc, however you want to control it. Even better, control over specific apps and how they multitask (if at all), instead of having to cycle through every single app you've opened in iOS4's dock. Hate how they moved the iPod controls in there as well.
Here is ProSwitcher, brings up a preview of the app to which you're switching, Palm Pre still. Uses a bit of battery so I ditched it, but a nice touch.
Also forgot to mention SBSettings... a quick swipe/double tap (again, up to you) over the status bar brings up all your toggles. Love this because I'm always tweaking brightness and killing wi-fi/location/bluetooth when I don't need them to save battery; this makes it a ~5 second affair to do all of that. Also a quick toggle for 3G Unrestrictor to allow YouTube HQ over 3G, etc. The switch isn't showing up for some reason but Rotation kills the accelerometer like it does in iOS4.
SBSettings alone is worth jailbreaking for. Last but not least...
...choice is yours if you want to pay $10 for the app or not, but no additional cost beyond that. Enough said.

Personally I think Apple's done multitasking right for the vast majority of users. I can see how it would leave something to be desired for real power users.
SBSettings & MyWi = awesome. I rarely have use for a wifi hotspot but that's still a kick-ass application.
Hey, for anyone who has jailbroken thief iphone4, has their been any performance loss at all? I had my 3G jbroken, and I miss my sbsetting and mywi, but am enjoying he speed of my young 4.

I havn't had any issues with my jailbreak yet, with SBSettings and such.
Don't use MyWi because I hate Rock.
I use iTether to tether my iPad using the official Apple tethering (it's only 5$ too!).
Apparently a wifi tethering app will be out shortly that will only be 2$ as well. (On Cydia)
