Will these people have nails hammered into their skulls based on Sharia Law?

To sterilize them?

So Jesus walks into a hotel lobby, he's carrying a hammer and a handfull of nails. He taps the hotel manager on the shoulder and says "Hey . . . could you put me up for the night?"

Why did Jesus quit playing hockey?

He was tired of getting nailed into the boards.

I wonder why he decided on two dozen nails?

Did he go to Wal-Mart at say, "give me two dozen nails . . . . I gotta nail my maid?"

There's a primitive savage in all of us that's probably capable of just about anything, according to Lord Of The Flies.

But we need extreme circumstances to set us off, which isn't likely to happen to most people in most modern societies.

Cultural? Maybe. From what I've read, however, this is extreme even for a place well documented for abuse of servants.

Our prisons are full of guys who'd probably do the same thing though.

Its interesting that there seems to be a growing list of couples that conspire to do horrible things.

The Bernardos, Faye and Ray Copeland, the Gallego's Myra Hindley and her partner, the Carson's. Where most couples have that balance point, these batsh%t lunatics are like minded people who actively participate in murder or rape.

I love statements like this.

No western culture has ever done anything atrocious since the 15th century. Nope, the 20th century was full of rainbows and unicorns in the Western world.

He didn't say the western world was perfect. That's naive of you to say that.

He pointed out that many customs and traditions in certain coutries are straight out of the history book.

Western civilization isn't perfect by any means and we've had our own dark contributions. I would like to think we've managed to move past hammering nails into a servant as a means of punishment.

But if the servant weighs as much as a duck, but can't float she is clearly a witch and we should.....burn her?

I'm sure in Afghanistan there are message boards filled with articles about the Western world and they think we are crazy.

"Guy beheads man on bus and then eats him"

AFG1- "Man their culture is messed"

AFG 2- "They want to eat us too because we want their freedoms"

Once again, western media turning a very unique situation into a broad brush-stroke. There have been many more threads of equally or more eff'd up things happening in the western world posted here on CP in the last six months.

Lord Of The Flies is fictional, which takes away a good deal of that argument. It doesn't fully discredit the notion though, because the Milgram experiments were real and somewhat along similar lines. If they have told us anything, it's that people can and will do horrible things to other people provided a) they are assured their will be no consequences, and b) they don't have the intestinal fortitude to disobey orders.

Unfortunately, it's not fair to compare the Milgram experiments to this scenario because the majority of Milgram test subjects went against their inner nature in causing harm to another human being. This Saudi couple had -- supposedly -- no problems whatsoever in commiting this atrocious act. They must view human life differently than I do. Maybe they considered their maid to be sub-human due to her socioeconomic status and thus downplayed this atrocity as a commonplace occurence.

I have no problem giving my cats scolding swats on the behind if they're misbehaving, but I coddle them and apologize profusely if I accidentally step on their tails.
