Los Lobos - Tin Can Trust
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Paul Weller - Wake Up The Nation
Crystal Castles - S/T
These two albums are fantastic, just thought they should be mentioned again.

I think you should check out Transference by Spoon, This Is Happening by LCD Soundsystem, Brothers by The Black Keys, Teen Dream by Beach House, Astro Coast by Surfer Blood, and Big Echo by The Morning Benders. I think you'll enjoy those albums, although some of them may be a tad on the too pop-ish side for you.

A jazz band i just discovered that i am really enjoying right now is 'inhabitants' from vancouver. I wouldnt say that they are typical jazz, but that is the category they seem to fall under and have basic jazz elements. They have a really cool almost ambient sound and in some ways remind me of godspeed you! black emperor. if you are downloading the music off itunes dont confuse them with the spanish(?) band also called inhabitants.

EDIT: As to the original post .. May have been mentioned already, I also enjoy the most recent albums from:

-The XX
-The Soft Pack
-Sleigh Bells
-Black Keys
-LCD Soundsystem
-Arcade Fire
-Blitzen Trapper
-Wild Beats
Like Fleet Foxes? try: Local Natives
Feeling open minded? try: The Books

Strange is good.

http://www.chartattack.com/features/...ongratulations

Watch MGMT's video for the title track to Congratulations. It features Ben Goldwasser and Adam VanWyngarden walking through a desert with some sort of sad creature that's part dinosaur, part bird and part dog. This video actually makes me really sad for some reason.

This should be one hell of a weird video to watch while stoned out of your brains.

An older band but somewhat unknown. Check out Black Rebel Motorcycle Band. Good stuff.

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
This isn't really a new album but I think it gets overlooked and it shouldn't.

Is that because you hate when people idle their cars?

I always thought Rebellion and Neighbourhood #3 were much better. Other than those two songs I'm not a fan.

The album by Them Crooked Vultures is great, top to bottom. Good to see Mr. Grohl back behind the drum set...

Rose Hill Drive, sort of garage-band-meets-blues. A number of good tracks on their two studio releases, but mostly they're a touring band. Unfortunately youtube is filled with crappy video shot on cell phones.

And their top 40 hit from 2008...

Really? I quite like the album although Little Lion Man is easily the best song on the album. I mean how can you not tap your foot to that song. I hear what you are saying with the tempo though.

I quite like White Blank Page as well.

I'm just disappointed I found out about these guys after their Montreal show already sold out....

Haha - that was the problem. I was expecting them all to be toe tappers. I'll give it another listen later this week.

Should I assume that you have heard of Flogging Molly? A little more on the celtic/punk side but excellent to get irish drunk to!
