like i said, i agree that goalies shouldnt be skating around being unrealistic, but it is a huge handicap to human goalies. because even AI goalies go back and play the puck pretty regularly now. that was huge progress for EA, but they need to refine controls and/or animations to allow humans to do it. because of the trapazoid, behind the net plays are about all that are reasonable; with that taken away for humans, they cant really play the puck.
Meh, I think the only time a goalie ever plays the puck smoothly is

A) When there is absolutely no pressure of a forecheck.

b) When Brodeur is handling the puck.

I think unless these one of two factors are present, playing the puck should be discouraged.

One thing I'd like to see the goalies able to do in these games is whip it off the glass. The passes from them are generally quite weak and on the ice.

It still bugs the hell out of me that you can't crash the crease and run the goalie over. Sure it would be hard to add without opening the door for the cheese-artists out there to exploit it... but realism always goes out the window whenever I run into that cloak of invincibility that every goalie in every NHL game seems to wear.

Has anyone had a hands-on with NHL Slapshot for the Wii? I've watched the videos and stuff online and, from those accounts at least, it looks like a pretty decent albeit simple hockey game. Perhaps the best for the Wii. Admittedly, I haven't tried any of the NHL 2K games since their first abortion on the system a couple years ago.

Where are you finding the position lock and for what mode?

CMP, in years past, it was at the edit line up screen.

In the bottom right, it tells you what button to press for position lock. You'll see a LW, RW, C, LD, RD, G symbol next to your controller every time you press said button. (Y maybe?)

For some reason it's only in the HUT mode in the demo.

I'd do that on the sole basis that you can play a Viking.

Actually, I do that so I don't burn a game of getlaf if I lose.

Starting to think they are hoping this goes away.

The game is two weeks away, and the demo has been out for awhile, what could they possibly be hiding and for what purpose?

Maybe I'm missing something, but you can fire pucks with the goalie just by using the shoot motion with the right stick.

Interesting, I have always used the pass button. Did this work in NHL10 aswell?

Does it go high and fast? I've never tried this. I do it all the time on defense to clear but I've never tried it with a goalie.

Ya, you could bank it off the glass in NHL 10 as well.

Hell today I got a delay of game penalty for putting the puck over the glass

jobo, do you know if there are plans to release a listing of the unlockables and/or explanation of attributes? i think back to last year and how much work people at operation sports did as far as documenting the boosts and ratings and such. it would be nice if EA actually did some of the work themselves.
