Default I LIKE Long & McQuade

As always, it truly amazes me that people who can't even get a credit card (or even a movie rental card!) can walk into long and McQuade and for about $150 walk out with $10,000 worth of equipment!

I'm engineering the mainstage this Sunday for the Bow River Flow festival in Prince's Island Park and my own PA system was a little bit too small for the gig, so I needed something bigger.

Two 1200watt 18" subs, two two-way 1200watt tops, two two-way 550watt monitors. ITS GONNA POUND!

I just engineered a rave last night at the Wild Wild West Event Centre across the street from Calaway Park and had the chance to pound the living snot out of a pair of these subs and was completely blown away (literally as well, my GOD they're awesome). Wasn't even hitting the internal limiter!

What else is cool is that I'll be running my mixing console and rack gear off of Deep Cycle Batteries! Also supplying batteries to my friend Heather who is running the Powered By The People tent, showcasing "The Biker Bar" which you attach your bike to and pedal to roll a turbine to generate power! Her website: http://www.poweredbythepeople.ca/

And of course, there is an after-party at The Garage in Eau Claire! More live music there too!

Aye, a testament to Jack Long who instilled the values the company keeps to this day. They did the "no signature on credit charges under X amount" thing long before Starbucks did it, or before chip cards became mainstream.

L&M is fantastic - I'm so glad they're finally opening a store here in Lethbridge. (bought out Noteables)

Years ago when I was a starving student with marginal income playing in a band, I badly needed to upgrade my stage amp. I had been living in Europe and had no Canadian credit, and I walked in there and financed 3K worth of gear with nothing but a signature. They were always willing to work with us and were very accommodating when times were tough. I will buy from them forever because of that.

Long and Mcqude is the ultimate music store no doubt. The salesmen there are all ballin (especially my main man Stan), and are not just trying to get you to spend money. I have gone there many a time asking their opinion on second hand instruments and such and they have no problem helping. Unlike that guitarworks where they pout until you buy something then start being friendly.

I don't mind L&M but you can't deal them down at all. They don't budge at ALL. Whereas Axe Music and Guitar Works always give me a deal.

I actually don't mind L&M. Friendly staff for the most part, good return policy(unlike Axe's), decent selection. One of the better music stores in Calgary for sure.

That said, I hate how condescending and unhelpful some of the old guys that work there are if you look like a youngin' though. It's worse at L&M than anywhere else.

Sure they will budge.

They knocked about $500 off my drumkit that I purchased ohhh... 5-6 years ago?

And to think when I asked about a better deal, I hadn't shaved in 2 days.
