If you learn to cook it doesn't take very long to make a nice healthy meal and can be a relaxing way to unwind.

Yeah, there are plenty of things you can make quicker than the time it takes to get take out.

We often pick up Chicken Vermicilli (generally around 10g/fat) and go easy on the Fish Oil. Also, McDonalds Fajitas are suprisingly low in fat (one fajita is 5g of fat + 100 calories). Subway can be done low fat, but there is a lot of calories in it. M and M has a easy to make Fajita kit that is 10 grams of fat per 2 fajitas.
Low fat grocery store dinners are generally disgusting and overdone for us.
I do not want a lecture about cooking at home as it is just not a viable option at this point to get hom from work, spend a long time in the kitchen and not eat until after 8.
Any thoughts?

I know the feeling.. But having a steady diet of take-out also sucks.
We usually try to cook twice as much as we need, then we eat the leftovers a couple days later... you end up with a lot of leftovers in you fridge, but its still usually better than the other options.
One quick meal that we really enjoy is stir fry. If the stuff is already chopped and ready to go, it only takes minutes to cook. Healthy too.

If you have a good breakfast and lunch why bother with a large supper. Unless I go out or have people over all I have for supper is cheese, crackers, celery, carrots, and water. The 3 meals a day jargon is a myth IMO if you are an adult.

Fact is the fat in take out shouldn't worry you. Take-out food has high levels of sodium, carbs, and other processed garbage.
There are healthier alternatives, but you're never going to beat home-cooked.

Not a myth that long periods of time between meals can slow your metabolism down and cause blood sugar fluctuation issues.

Most Vietnamese places have salad rolls, which are pretty tasty - and they usually aren't fried... but I suspect you might know that based on what I read in your initial post.
Other than that, I got nothing. But when I get home late, sometimnes I have a 12-egg white omelet with some veggies and cheese. Takes 10 minutes to make.

While I agree with what people have said on this forum that cooking is the best choice, there are some healthy take out options.
- At Subway, get a wrap rather than a sub.
- Booster Juice or Jugo Juice are great.
- Sushi joints
Also - many fast food burger joints do offer a chicken alternative to a burger. Just get that in a combo with a salad rather than fries and you're set.
Quick question - why do you seem so opposed to eating after 8? I eat between 9 - 10 every night after I start cooking around 8 - 9.

San Fran has an awesome take-out chain called Pluto's. I wish we had something like that here. There is something opening soon in Kensington on 10th St with a "fresh food" concept, so I hope it is like Pluto's.

Our produce is purchased daily and each salad is tossed to your liking by our salad chef. Each salad comes with your choice of freshly baked Sourdough or Foccacia bread. Have our fabulous Caesar Salad, Farmer Greens or Baby Spinach.
Sunterra has nice delis.

12 eggs would be 1100 calories before the cheese and about 15x your cholesterol per day.
12 egg whites would be OK

Hey Hesla, have you thought about trying to make a few nights worth of supper on say Sunday and then freezing it to have later in the week?
I also run a busy pro life and combined with the gym every day I am not home to eat supper until 7-7:30ish. If I had to cook something I would starve until 9.
So I usually make my meat first and then freeze it, like fried up ground buffalo, or grilled chicken breasts/salmon. The night before, take it out, put it in the fridge. By the time you get home from work you have it un thawed and cooked, boil some veggies for 10 minutes and voila supper is ready.
This is a lot easier for a guy cooking for one that doesn't care about flavour to do... but you might be able to tweak it to help your life style.
Also the blue menu from Superstore has a surprising amount of options which are better than most take out foods.
Also to add, Chilli's has a "guiltless menu" that carries grilled chicken breasts, steamed veggies, rice, salmon etc.. the food is really good, doesn't make you feel like a brick after and they cook it for you! Saves time... however that isn't an every night option, it is a good treat once a week that doesn't break the bank or your belt notch.

In my own, personal opinion (which I have tried to base on loads of reading) .... fat should not be your concern. Of course, large amounts of saturated fat is bad .... but fat in general is good and necessary for your body.
You should definitely try to stay away from the saturated fats of most fast food .... but you should really limit your simple carbs (bread, sugar) if weight gain is your main concern.

No link between dietary cholesterol and your LDL levels.
