Thanks. . . . . she's back to normal for sure. Abby, coincidentally, is 12 years old today and, in the words of her surgeon, a "remarkable physical specimen" for her age. Hopefully she's with us many more years. Abby, nosing through the grass of her prairie home, after the storm . . .

Her sister Keeper, also 12, has been slowing noticeably after surving cancer two years ago.

Below, Abby lazing her way through tall grass along the northwestern shore of Chain Lake, a favourite walk in all seasons . . . . sort of a private dog park as I've only seen one other person out for a stroll here. The fisherman type tend to hang out at the dam.

As we were walking along, we saw this unlikely sight, one of a nesting pair of Bald Eagles, disturbed by our presence (a pair of Osprey's had been dive-bombing us earlier) . . . .

. . . . which seconds later turned into this even more unlikely spectacle, travelling west to east over the lake at about 500 feet and roughly 350-400 knots. The challenge for the board is to identify markings and aircraft type . . .

and, for amusement, in the darkest part of Brown Lowery park, a weird photo . . . .

How did you get the blues... so incredibly blue? I try but it never turns out that blue. Or greens so green. Do you use a filter or increase the contrast?

No filters on this lens. The position of the sun really helped.
The light metering was thrown off a bit by the entire scene being so dark except for the beaming Sun.

I was bored yesterday and tried to take a panoramic shot of Downtown. I had no tripod so I was hand holding it so it is a little shakey. And I had no idea on how long I should do the settings for so please tell me what I should change.

Lol... I creeped her out real good.

Slow shutter and an aperture in the f20 range or so... (you can tell by how dirty my sensor was that day).

Anyway, I just focused on her with my 70-200. As i took my shot with the slow shutter, I rolled my 'zoom' back. So the slow shutter allows the 'blur' as you roll back.

Anyway, as she walked past, she had headphones in and was texting. I tried to tell her who I was and why I was taking her picture, but she didn't make eye contact and just scurried off.

It's too hard to tell from such a small image and no EXIF data, though it looks blurry, dull and possibly taken with a cell phone?

Here´s my touch up one, and cropped a bit. Curious what you awesome photographers can tell me which you prefer or if there is anything I´m messing up. Keep in mind I took this at about 2am when I was pretty liquored and without a tripod.

I personally like the original better than your edited version... the edited one looks, well edited. The only think I would change about this photo is removing the little piece of earth in the bottom right corner. Other than that it's an amazing photo!

I much prefer the untouched one. WHen I saw my first reaction was "now that's a good picture"

I have seen this effect before but the way both the foreground and background are blurred but the person is still in focus is cool.

Yeah, the f20 (estimating) is just to compensate because if you drop your shutter to 1/60th or lower on a bright sunny day, obviously it'll blow out your exposure.

Agreed. The original one is much nicer. The edited one has too much of a green tint for my taste.

If you want to edit it, I think the only thing I'd try to do is reduce some of the noise in the sky/water.

Yeah when I originally did that crop/edit on that photo I had been a little keen on strong saturation. I was only 1 month into using a DSLR and post editing was new to me.

Anyhow trying again with the photo, was able to clean up a lot of noise with PS Lightroom, cut it as well to remove the bottom right junk.

I love the wide images, but maybe for this image the whole image works better if I can photoshop out the bottom right rocks.

Just wanna say I really enjoy looking at all the pictures in this thread. There is a lot of talent amongst the CP community!

I've always liked taking pictures myself, and recently decided to try and take it up a notch. I bought my first DSLR just over a week ago and hope to some day be half as good as you guys and gals.

Keep the pics coming!
