Canadian Tire $$$
Is it just me or has CT gotten really stingy in giving out their CT money. I bought stuff worth about $29 on Sat. and they gave me 0.10 for it. Seems to me I used to get a lot more.

You should have been given more than that. I usually get around $1 for every $20 spent (mostly gas for the car)

The payout rate is much higher for gas. For in-store purchases it's a very small percentage.

As Jiri mentioned, you do get lots more if you buy gas. Also, I believe if you had purchased $30 worth of stuff before taxes, you would have received more.

It would definitely appear to be that way.

Anyone know if Pete's Peanut Pub still takes Canadian Tire $ on Mondays in place of normal cash?

But is really that most efficient way of giving people rebates these days? $.10 on 30 bucks worth of merchandise. That's insane, seems like more work than it's worth. Gotta love 0.33% rebates!

I gave up collecting CT money when my truck got broken in to and my ~$50 of crappy tire money got stolen along with my coffee change. Lol. You got to be pretty down on your luck to be breaking in to cars for CT money.

Not when places like Hudson's Pub were accepting it as cash

It sucks they only give it out when you pay cash/debit, but not credit card.
If they gave it when you paid by CC, I'd have a breifcase full too.

Also different locations are allowed to have different pay out rates - so you won't get the same amount back depending on where you go.

Canadian Tire is phasing out their money program - at least that's what one store employee told me. Seems the payout is half of what it used to be. I spent $1000 getting tires done there and got $1.50 or so in CT money...

I have a Canadian Tire MasterCard, I am not sure how much exactly I get by using it, but I did use the money on it to buy my sons bike this year, and I bought all the plants for my flower beds last year using the money on it.
I hope they dont phase out the CT money because then I will have no use for the card and would probably cancel it.

They give it out when you use a Canadian Tire Mastercard. It is handy because you can store your Canadian Tire money on the card for in store usage.
