Anybody who purchases a card pack should get a scarlet letter put on their logo so you can ridicule them during the game.

So how do you acquire the ultimate team cards for training and the likes?

I know I'm FATAing myself from this very same thread pages ago but I need to ask again anyway in the faint hope that they might of actually done something about having multi-player GM mode?

Probably somewhere along the lines of:

a)complete an insane number of meaningless, mundane, time consuming tasks
b)whip out the good ol' visa and start buying microsoft points

You get points for playing games online.

But if its anything like the achievements from past games, some of them are just silly...especially when if you have the money, you can just buy everything out. I wish they'd just keep things even, or have some way of a "no purchase" server or something.

I just don't understand how acquiring players and building your team through packs of cards that you either purchase or win through playing tons of games is an enjoyable process..... and what's the end goal? to get an all star team? you can already do that in versus. I understand the appeal to building your own team, but only when it's in a franchise mode type of thing where you are building your team through trades, FAs, and the draft, I enjoy that, and it's the reason I'd love to see an online franchise mode. I understand why EA is doing this (money) I just really don't understand why this type of game mode appeals to so many people.

Just bizarre as these guys are so open about everything else. Open chats, surprise vids of features, multiple blog posts etc. With the demo coming out in 3 days it's odd why they wouldn't show some gameplay since so many want to see it. Holding the cards pretty close this time it would seem.

It could just be that the new online league is the $$ maker, so they want to focus 95% of their energy on it.

I hate it when the online experience has to be the only subject for these developers, our AI engine sucks so lets put together some online experiences and the game will be amazing. Worked in Madden 11 apparently.

I'm actually really excited for the ultimate team mode. I think it's going to be a ton of fun. I remember playing a similar mode back in NHL 2003, and it was awesome.

It would be great if they actually employed some type of artificial intelligence that worked. They introduced AI learning, but I have found it is a useless slider.

All increased difficulty does is give the CPU more shortcuts. Superstar is the only real challenge, but the CPU 'cheats' so much that it just frustrates the hell out of you. Well, me anyway.

Pretty sure they do that deliberately to encourage spending on online features.

I am super pumped to hear what the new news is on the BE a GM mode...

I like to do something that I've coined, PURE GM'ing...It is where you build your team like as an authentic GM and Sim or watch all of your teams games, and control the 'Strategy' and 'Line Combinations' but you do not 'Play' in games.

Has/does anybody on CP do this when they play Be a GM mode?

And or, is their anybody that would have interest for Be a GM mode to have a Versus mode included in Be a GM - with PURE GM as a selection within the mode?

Let me know your thoughts regardless, would love to here people's ideas : ) (Pumped, can you tell)

Playing the games is still paramount to my enjoyment, so that sounds like something that might work for some but certainly not me.

I would expect some news today as the demo releases tomorrow and monday/tuesday are generally good days to release news.

if it is anything like ultimate team in madden 11, a regular game vs a human opponent or the computer nets you points (coins) and it takes a 1,000 coins to purchase a bronze level pack, includes players, jerseys, coaches, stadiums, contracts, playbooks, injury reduction. A silver is 3,000, not sure what a gold pack is. You don't have to win the game to get points either.

I like it, its actually the only mode i have touched in Madden 11.

And you start out getting a pack to make a full team but the overall is like 58

Good info, thanks. Do you know what the average coin count is on a good game? I'm curious to know how many it would take to save up for the various packs.

Well my first game I smoked someone, and got like 1,200.

Average is about 600 - 900 for me anyways.

Even get it for cpu games as well though! Which is nice in madden because they are done in 30 minutes now, which is fast for a football game

Some info from Sept. Game Informer mag. EASHL, Be A Pro, and Be A GM

Regarding Be a Pro...
Quote:
"Your draft position is determined at the Memorial Cup, and with seven rounds being integrated into the draft for the first time, if you stink it up you could find yourself being passed by serveral times over."

"...and refined the AI behavior to make your teammates skate better and take more shots."
Regarding Be A GM...
Quote:
"...Be a GM mode improves with the addition of restricted and unrestricted free agency. Like the real NHL, you can sign younger players to slotted offer sheets or try to poach young superstars at the cost of losing draft picks. EA Canada has worked to improve the trade logic to limit the movement of star players and added five-player-per-team trades. The devs also implemented fixes to make sure good players don't unrealistically sit in free agency too long. Expect a lot more player movement at the minor league level, and like the real NHL, don't expect cap conscious teams to move a lot of first-liners unless they are pending unrestricted free agents."
Regarding the EASHL...
Quote:
"...to create more intensity for the monthly seasons, this year's EASHL will feature playoffs the last four days of each month. If your team wins the Cup, your games will feature a unique presentation package including raising your championship banner to the rafters before each game."
