Surprised no one's mentioned Ecco shoes. For me they are best value shoes out there. They look great, last forever, and arent that expensive ($150 - $300 depending). Not to mention there great customer service. They've single handedly turned me into a bit of shoe snob.

I agree that you have to look good in a business perspective. There is a fine line between too casual and too formal. Alot of it does depend on the industry that you're in. I'm in O+G as an Area Manager and I can get away with jeans (nice ones) and a dress shirt because thats the "culture" at work. I'd be very out of place in a suit. But some guys come in with ratty jeans, showing chest hair, and havent shaved in 4 days. It looks like crap and it ABSOLUTELY affects how people see you in a business setting.

Slob it up on the weekend, but not at work.

The problem is they are still making money at $125, which basically straight up proves that $500 shoes are for people dumb enough to shove $325 into some stranger's pocket for nothing.

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of things I've bought where I'm sure I've done just this, but I try to keep it to a minimum.

Levis used to make some damn good jeans back in the day, before they outsourced the crap out of everything. I guess alot of their vintage shuttle looms got bought up by Japanese denim manufacturers who make, at least in my opinion the nicest jeans these days.

As for brands like True Religion, Rock & Republic, etc. I got no idea why people like these.

This, this, 100x this! I have 5 pairs of eccos in my closet, they are all I wear for formal and workplace foot wear. They last and last if you take care of the leather, which will wear out before the super comfortable soles.

My parents buy used Levi's jeans. They fetch a great sum ($30 pair) in Japan.

I'm actually curious how many people think a well groomed person (hair done, nice clothes, clean) with a little groomed stubble on the face actually looks sloppy.

Like I keep some stubble on my face generally because most people i ask tell me it looks better than me clean shaven. But i go to work in a shirt and tie etc. Am I looking like a slob everyday to some people? I actually want to know.

EDIT: and yeah the thread title should definitely change.

In most circumstances yes you do, certainly in my office you be considered to look like a slob. It's not right or wrong but there is a level of professional edict and standards that need to be upheld and having a clean shave face or a well trimmed bread is one of them. Think of it this way if you wore your best best suit, tie, shirt, combed your hair, and shaved your face, but wore your best casual sneakers, even if they looked really good on you, you'd still be considered a slob when you showed up at work. Same principal as stubble.

I would say no you don't look sloppy as long as the stubble is maintained. Maintaining that 5 o'clock shadow look is tougher than clean shaven IMO. You have to trim it and you have to keep the edged clean.

If you're just not shaving, then yes you would look slobby.
