Default Week 7: Eskimos at STAMPEDERS

Another squeaker for the Stampeders against BC Lions last week. The score made it look like the game was even close the whole game. Overall the Stamps outplayed the Lions last week.

QUARTERBACK: I still think the Stamps' offense are not in high gear yet. We have way too much firepower that I think it might explode soon and score some big points. Burris pretty much distributed the ball to everyone in the offense. He didn't really have the specific traget out there.

Good in Drew Tate for throwing a TD to FB Rob Cote. After the scare on Burris, Drew Tate made some nice moves. I really like the way Drew Tate plays even though we haven't seen much of him play. I feel more comfortable having him around compare to when Barrick Nealy was our backup.

RUNNING BACK: The guys played good enough against BC Lions. BC DLine had a bit of a problem containing them though. We rarely notice FB Rob Cote because he doesn't carry the ball that much but he is a good blocker and can also be threat as a receiver.

OFFENSIVE LINE: The OLine played a heck of a game against BC. I don't think we saw a lot of BC pressure on Burris. When that happens, it just means our OLIne are doing well protecting. At the beginning of the season, these group are the question mark in this team because we lost 3 veteran OLine in Pilon, Newman and Tsoumpas. Good news, we are finally going to see Tsoumpas play for the Stampeders again vs the Eskimos.

RECEIVERS: Rambo got another TD and pretty much everyone in this group contributed on offense. Burris didn't just concentrate on one guy.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN: The DLinemen are improving every game. These group are the main reason why the Stamps are winning. They pressure the opposition's QB a lot and doesn't give the RB a lot of room to run. BC RB Jamall Richardson had a quiet night and QB Travis Lulay were so flustered that he was forcing to throw the ball a lot.If they keep their play, I think they will give the Eskimos OLine a hard time all night and QB Ricky Ray will be on the turf a lot.

LINEBACKING: The second best position group in this team so far this season. The Stamps LB crew are not very well known around the league but they do their job and a lot better job than some of those flashy name LB in the league.

DEFENSIVE BACKS: I think the Stamps DB are playing well. Their coverage are awesome. Because the opposition's RB are not getting some rooms running the ball, the QB are forced to throw the ball a lot. Dwight Anderson had a memorable night against BC. He was having a bad night losing battles against BC receivers that they started picking on him. Finally late in the game, he made the difference by intercepting the ball after DL Tom Johnson tipped in Lulay's throw. Anderson almost made it all the way to the end zone. The INT pretty much sealed the deal for the Stamps.

SPECIAL TEAM: Deon Murphy didn't have the good night against BC. He fumbled the ball late in the game that it almost cost them the game. He's still young and learning so I am sure he is inching to get back running the return again. I can see him making a major on this game. Too bad I will miss watching the game.

THE OPPOSITION: The Eskimos are definitely suffering this season. They are now 1-5 and will definitely go 1-6 soon. They fired GM Danny Maccioca after that Week 5 game. That was actually the best move they made so far. Last week Richie Hall got rid of former Stamps prospect OL Joe McGrath because he way too soft. Good riddance buddy. Will this be Richie Hall's last game as an Eskimo's head coach? I don't see the Eskimos beating the Stamps on this game. The only way i see the Stamps losing vs the Esks is because they are taking them lightly.

This is the first of 3 games that I will miss watching because of my vacation. I hope when I come back the Stamps record will be 8-1.

I guess I am just going to rely on CP for some updates.

GO STAMPS GO!!

If Burris struggles early I hope the Stamps turn to Reynolds just a little more. Edmonton has been brutal against the run so run it down their throats. It will be interesting to see what the Esks do to replace Fred Stamps. That is a huge loss for that team. Calgary has the best defence and will be pressuring Ricky all day long. Lets hope they knock him flat on his ass a few times.

Classic trap game but then when you are 5-1 every game is a trap game.

Ricky Ray has had success in the past against the Stamps defense picking them apart with the pass. They will need to be at their best and get tons of pressure on him.

I think it will be a fairly high scoring game and if Calgary is mentally sharp they should win it.

Also, it's not the CFL that blacks out the games, it's the individual clubs that do.

Also, if you have TSN in HD, it won't be blacked out, which is pretty much everyone these days.

I really like this Jason Barnes kid they have. I have a feeling he is going to have a monster game one of these days. He and Ray did have some good chemistry in the pre-season.

Edmonton has certain packages they use for Jared Zabransky. So I don't believe he is injured.

Who would have ever thought that the Oilers wouldn't be the worst pro sports team in Edmonton this year?

It's almost sad watching the Battle of Alberta games this year...Almost.
