Lets see, they support themselves through the drug trade, arm themselves with guns, try to kill each other with no regard for the innocent people around them.
They're not good guys just fighting over the dumbest reason.
Fighting over the dumbest reason is you calling me a name and me punching you in the face and the whole thing ending there.
The greatest service that could ever happen is if these two gangs could go to an abandoned out of town area and whipe each other off of the map.

Is there really "safe" neighbourhoods anymore? In this city there is no where that is completely safe. How many homicides, assaults and countless other crimes are committed in what have been traditionally "safe" communities? Whenever there is a shooting or something else like this everyone comes out with the "must have been Forest Lawn" talk. But these things cycle and move. Now, I'm not saying Forest Lawn or Dover or Marlborough are fantastic areas as of now, but I feel just as safe driving thru there as I do driving in a number of other places in the city.
I attended church as a kid in Inglewood and at the time it was a dump. Not the trendy neighbourhood it is today. Across the street from the corner store we used to grab candy and pop at, was a japanese porn theatre. This is now the revamped Garry Theatre.
All I'm getting at is this stuff is happening all over the place. We have gang problems and all the other things that come with living in a city this size. Hard to get around it no matter where you might try to go.
As to the OP, I hope the police are taking care of the issue and that this family and the other innocent people in the area are ok. That's really all that matters. Keep us posted.

Technically it's still part of the Lake Bonavista neighbourhood.
I used to do landscaping throughout East Bonavista and into Queensland etc... A lot of shady characters around and at all times of the day.
For the most part Bonavista is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Calgary, but things go downhill quickly when you start getting into the area directly adjacent to Queensland. I'm not saying the entirety of Queensland is sketchy either. Diamond Cove is probably one of the nicest developments in Calgary.
However, the area around where Bonavista and Queensland meet is one of the sketchier places in Calgary.

Bonivista became a much nicer neighbourhood once they moved those trailer parks out of there.

as an aside to the whole gang commentary...apparently there is a new hells angel chapter that has opened up shop somewhere in the south...there is much speculation among the policing community that the angels could be ramping up in order to defend turf from these other gangs that have been more openly active...could get a little hairy if this is the case although when the angels want someone gone they just disappear and are never seen again...no need for messy gun fights and such...

Whatever, it's still soft. I hear people there only get broken into twice.

http://crimemap.calgarypolice.ca/
Lake Bonavista, previous 6 months, 145 violations found.
Queensland, previous 6 months, 62 violations found.
Deer Run, previouc 6 months, 45 violations found.
Diamond Cove, previous 6 months, 23 violations found.
Bonavista Downs, previous 6 months, 14 violations found.
Forest Lawn, previous 6 months, 371 violations found.

It's neat to see what is happening in your neighbourhood. Apparently, there was a theft on my street 2 days ago.

Don't worry, there's a place in Sunnyside that appears to have broken into 7 times in the last month

If it makes you feel any better, it looks like someone else got broken into a week after you.

It probably doesn't make him feel better, because that someone else was him.

How many houses though? If it's 1/20 the number of houses; it's a higher crime rate.
Plus if I'm going to break into a house, I'm probably going to hit the $750K house with a poodle in the back as opposed to the $350K house with the german sheppard in the yard.
