Yeah nevermind. I am thinking of Bonavista (other side of Macleod). Bonavista gets sketchy towards it's eastern side.

Canyon Meadows is totally safe.... well supposed to be anyway.

It's pretty safe for the most part. There's some little punks here that like to walk around and tag stuff from time to time.

Do you honestly think with how big these two gangs are, that they are still just fighting over that one incident years ago?
It's obviously boiled past that incident, but I'm just saying how the war and split between friends happened. This is a personal war not a war about drugs or turf. These guys were all dial-a-dopers in high school and a lot of them still are. They don't drive anything fancy and you'd never guess they were in a gang.

The whole reason the split happened and the killings happened was because of that one incident.

Went to Forest Lawn High school with 90% of them. PM me if you want names before you call me a liar.

Same as any neighbourhood with families. Kids eventually become teenagers and get into petty stuff like that.

Why would you think that? In my opinion It's a lot of lower income housing, and it's full of rentals. Rentals seem to have a lot more problems than those areas that aren't. I doubt there's much chance of ever being effected by this yourself, but it certainly isn't an area I would expect for this stuff to not exist.

Plenty of the FOB/Fobkillers and their associates went to highschools schools in the NW & NE in 1998-2002 which is the generation that it all started from. Maybe the core groups were at Forest Lawn but I remember when Adam Miu was killed and the Herald had the picture of all the Asian kids dressed in black standing at the curb with flowers, plenty of them were from the north. I was friends with about 5-6 guys who were deep into it but they are either out now or in jail.

Again, back in those days it was a smaller and more tight knit group, mostly asian highschool kids getting off on selling petty drugs and stealing pagers but you always knew someone or somebody through connections or associations, a friend of a friend, etc.

The people involved are almost completely different now and it's expanded city province-wide with a lot of influence from BC gangs and drug connections across the country and the US. It's just always wierd to imagine how it all started out like you said with a bunch of highschoolers and petty squabbles over things like girlfriends.

^Same with Queensland for that matter. Lived there a few years ago. There were some tags and such, and some on the eastern end of Bonavista. In terms of serious crime though, barely heard a peep.

I know that I dont have a problem with it so long as they kill themselves or other gangs and not innocents.

Yeah that's ######ed. Lake Bonavista is without a doubt one of the top ten neighbourhoods in Calgary...maybe even top five.

In your opinion, eh? Do you live here? There's some duplexes on the lower side, but for the most part it's a pretty nice community.

Nothing to do with a turf war or a drug war just over one guy who was jealous his ex went out with another guy he knew and killed him.
Yeah, for the record, "Good people" don't sell drugs and kill dudes because they went out with their ex.

Having lived in both cities, i can conclude one thing. Winnipeg gangs make Calgary gangs look like saints.

I think they're talking about 'Bonavista Downs'. Its an offshoot of Bonavista; smaller, cheaper homes, don't have access to the lake. Basically a midpoint between Bonavista and Deer Run/Queensland. It's its own community technically.
