There is a way to check the flow-back thing and we should all make sure it's working.
Anyone know how to check these ? Mine is just a grate on the floor ?

I'm probably wrong, but I think floor drains are tied into the Sanitary Sewer system. There is a P-Trap to keep the sewer gases from seeping up into the living space.
If it was me, I'd plan on breaking the concrete out around the floor drain, and tying in a proper Y connection below the floor level, as the 'run off' out of your sink may never fully make it through the gooseneck, and begin to stink up your basement.
When you're done, mix up some bags of redimix, and patch the busted concrete. The whole thing isn't that hard. Breaking concrete is easy, after you have punched your way through to the gravel. You just keep undermining the slab, and it breaks easy with a 8 lb sledge.
