While we're on the chocolate bandwagon, I'd kill for the recipe for those frozen hot chocolate things they make at Second Cup. I know they are about as unhealthy as eating sugar cubes, but man are they good.

Recipe courtesy of Alton Brown:

2oz. Milk
2oz. Purple or blue drink (Pomegranate juice works)
2oz. Strawberries
2oz. Blackberries or raspberries
2oz. Orange fruit (mangoes or peaches usually for me)
Half a banana
Use frozen fruit so that its nice and icy without having to water it down with ice.

McDonald's profits powered by smoothies

Last Updated: Monday, August 9, 2010 | 9:58 AM ET Comments4Recommend5

The Associated Press

McDonald's Corp. posted its biggest monthly increase of a key U.S. sales figure in more than a year on Monday, saying its new fruit smoothies and frappes were a hit with customers during a hot and steamy July.
In the U.S., sales at restaurants that have been opened for at least 13 months climbed 5.7 per cent — the biggest monthly increase since the world's largest hamburger chain recorded a 6.1 per cent gain in April 2009.
Overall, the measure rose seven per cent around the globe. It climbed 5.3 per cent in Europe and 10.1 per cent in the rest of the world, the company said in a statement on Monday.
The figure is considered an important gauge of a restaurant chain's performance because it excludes the effects of restaurants that open or close during the year.
McDonald's shares climbed 67 cents to $72.41 US in pre-market trading Monday. The company's stock closed Friday at $71.74 US.

This is basically the smoothie recipe I make. I also add about a tablespoon of sugar though.

One thing that was recomended to me by a girl at the blender parts store is that you want to let your strawberries thaw out before you blend them. Aparently the fibrous parts of the strawberries cause stress on the blender and can cause the blade assembly to crack. Which is what happened to me and why I found myself at a blender parts store
