How he's lasted this many years is beyond me. He's the worst kicker in the CFL by far. When was the last time Winnipeg had decent kicking?

Trevor Kennerd 1980-1991. He helped them to three Grey Cups victories in 84,88, and 90. He was CFL All-Star (1981, 1985 Football Reporters of Canada All-Star and 1983 Coaches All-Star). He also happens to be from Calgary Alberta.

Yes, a reliable kicker would be swell.

Justin Medlock? Louie Sakoda yes he was a punter in Saskatchewan but he had good numbers at Utah State kicking field goals?

It is especially brutal because he is an import. It really can't be that hard to find a decent American kicker.

I didn't even realize he was an import. Wow. Seriously, decent import kickers are a dime a dozen. How Serna keeps his job from year to year, let along week to week is bizarre. Heck, even Clinton Greathouse would be better.

Winnipeg has contacted Justin Medlock. I guess the Riders tried contacting him a couple weeks ago but the price tag was too high.

As a side, report Justin Medlock is talking w/ @Wpg_BlueBombers. His asking price to #CFL tms 2 wks ago was around $100k w/ $30-40k up front
If the Bombers want him that bad say bye to Mike Renaud.

What an odd start to the season. Toronto is 4-2 almost by default because the other teams in the league are so bad and Calgary went to sleep when they played them. I'll be pretty shocked if Montreal doesn't win it all. Right now Calgary and Saskatchewan are the only two teams who can even give them a game. I'd definitely say the Stamps are the #2 team, than the Riders and after that..the only way any of those teams win 9 games is because there were so many bad teams to kick the crap out of. I'll be surprised if BC and Edmonton can combine for 5 wins. Oddly enough...one of them still may make the playoffs, because I think Hamilton and Winnipeg aren't much better.

The Bombers have cut Serna and added Sakoda. No surprise at all.

Not surprised that they cut Serna but not sure that replacing him with Sakoda is much, if any, upgrade.

I guess Medlock was just to stupid with his demands because he is clearly a much better option than either of these guys.

Sakoda hasn't kicked a single FG in the CFL. Not sure how you can judge him yet. He was a punter for the Riders and the Bombers already have a non-import punter in Renaud. Sakoda is being brought in to kick, not punt.

Sakoda was pretty good at Utah:

CAREER RECORD WATCH(Utah)
  • Field Goal Pct.: .864 (1st)
  • Field Goals Made: 57 (1st)
  • Field Goal Attempts: 66 (1st, tie)
