Default Smoothie and Shake Recipes

So I just got myself a magic bullet, and have been playing around with various smoothies to use as a quick breakfast meal/snack. While obviously not the most healthy example, I just tried a quick Orange Julius recipe, and damn if it's not as good as the original!

6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
8-9 ice cubes

1. Combine all ingredients except ice cubes in blender.
2. Blend for about 1-2 minutes, adding ice cubes one at a time.

http://paulmayne.org/blog/2005/10/orange-julius-recipe/

There's some gotta be some other OJ fans out there, so give it a shot. It'll have you swapping hockey rumors in no time....

Anyone else got some other recipes they like?

Haha. I love bananas. Other than my clear non-contribution I'm curious what others have to offer. I like smoothies.

^ 1/2 cup of sugar!!

A couple ounces of instant oatmeal, (cooked, not dry)
2 tbsp of flax seeds
1/2 cup of frozen strawberries or raspberries.
2 tbsp Peanut Butter
4-5 Ice cubes
1/2 cup plain (or vanilla if you prefer) yoghurt
1/2 cup skim milk

If you like, add some flavoured or unflavoured whey for protein

Yummy, and it will keep you full for hours...

Blow your mind.

One handful of blueberries
One sliced frozen banana
Two tablespoons of Peanut Butter
One sliced red delicious apple
One serving of chocolate whey protein
8 or 16 oz 2% milk
One handful of ice
A small squeeze of hersey's chocolate syrup.

If one was bulking and really wanted a treat, they could substitute the ice for a scoop or two of ice cream.

Some interesting stuff in here. I'd like to try to add some protein powder and flax seed into some of these combos... in terms of nutrition, does it matter if the flax seed is in seed form (ground up) or is it ok to use the oil variety?

I'd imagine flax oil will just be absorbed by your body faster because its in liquid form.

Try replacing milk with almond milk (~$3.99 for 2L at Superstore). It's really good. Tastes way better than soy milk.

Head to your nearest east indian store, buy a large can of mango pulp (around 2 bucks) add to ice and suger to taste and you have a nice mango drink. freeze left over pulb in an ice cube tray for future use.

Whey powder
Milk
Blueberries
Ricotta (not rico fata) cheese
low-fat, low-sugar vanilla ice cream

Makes a nice relatively healthy blueberry cheesecake smoothie

Also, check out the smoothie app if you have an iphone.

I like putting plain yogurt in my smoothies. Not milk or juice. Combine it with two fruits that compliment each other like frozen strawberries and bananas, or frozen blueberries and lemon. Delicious.

Holy crap does this eat like a meal. I replaced the blueberries with raspberries, only had 1 tablespoon of PB, and went for some cinnamon instead of chocolate syrup, but I could barely finish it.
