When is this visit happening? A lot of the suggestions are year-round type of things, which is good, but there could be some cool stuff happening at specific times. Also, if this is a winter visit, there could be some more ideas.

If shopping is her thing, there are so many better places to go to then that giant box of bland in the middle of nowhere (although even I liked that hockey store, ha).
I would think a place like Chinook is much more impressive. The giant glass dome they are building at the Core downtown is pretty amazing as well, although depending on the time of the year, construction might still be ongoing with the rest of the place. The new Holt Renfrew is a girl's dream come true though...

It took me FIVE minutes in Waterloo! And five seconds to spot an in-bred redneck!
But seriously- I've lived here 10 years and have never- never once- seen a gunrack, never mind actually GUNS, in the rear window of a truck.

I have yet to see a truck with a rifle in the rear window in Calgary, and I've lived here on and off for about 29 years. Someone's story smells of moldy diapers and cheap whiskey

Do not take her to a mall.
Every mall in every part of North America is exactly the same with all of the same stuff.
Complete waste of time

If you haven't ever been to rural Ontario, you wouldn't know what rubes most Ontarians are. I knew someone once who regaled me with tales of their local hometown, including the amazing sweet buns on Main Street.

I have to second the rafting down the bow idea. A great way to get to know someone without spending a ton of cash. Bring an easy picnic lunch and your favorite alcoholic bevy and have yourself a great time. Getting her into a bikini can't be a bad thing, can it?

I've seen them, but never frequently, and not in about 20 years. iirc, it's not even legal nowadays...

How is this possible? Where are these people? Aren't the majority of professions in Calgary welders, electricians, teachers, construction etc. How many doctors and hockey players are there in Calgary?
Sorry about the derail but interesting discussion.

I really like the book The Millionaire Next Door. It talks about the characteristics of people with net worths over $1 million. A lot of high-income people don't look like what you may expect a high-income person to look like (they don't drive prestigious cars, live in lavish houses, wear designer clothes, etc.). And often the people that wear the fancy brands and lease the ritzy cars can least afford it (low net worth people, or people spending high relative to their income).
Also your typical millionaire, according to the book, is a small business owner.

100% agreed. A family friend owns Modern Beauty supplies and he is worth tens of millions of dollars and still drives the most POS car you could imagine. If you ever saw him on the streets you would probably feel the urge to pull out a few loonies and give it to him.

There is only 2 things to do within Calgary city limits (leaving aside interest specific activities, such as poker and AD&D) - fata and eat. What the fata else is there? So, fata her, then take her to Harbour City for some dumplings, then fata her again, if you can fata after consuming MSG.
