If you would just raise your prices instead of cutting we can both get a better deal here!

Fair amount of inquiries but nothing moving yet, great back-ups get no respect in this league and unfortunately bidding wars don't take us any higher. Conklin is definitely not getting any respect however a few people seem to like him as a tandem with Lundy and he doesn't seem to be drawing much in return so I might just keep him unless the offers get better.

What is a back-up worth! I ask the veteran GM's of this league

^I would say not much. #1 goalies in the CPHL play almost all the games so having a quality backup really isn't a huge thing....so teams aren't willing to give up valuable assets or allocate a lot of cap space to them.

Add to that the fact that a lot of GM have a hard time giving up anything of value for a guy that was available as a free agent for nothing - and you probably will be lucky to get a 2nd round pick for either guy.

Certainly you can't compare ratings across the board. While a 71 goalie might be more valuable than a 71 forward - a 66 forward is going to be far more valuable than a 66 backup

My 2 cents.

2nd pick would sound good at this point any takers?

Backups aren't worth a whole lot unless it's a younger guy with the potential to get better.

I got Clemmensen for a late 2nd round pick immediately after trading began this offseason.

Legace was my goaltender since I've been GM. Anybody want him?

Before getting Hiller, I had Antero Niittimaki. Got him for a prospect in the summertime and snuck him through UFA bidding to get a more favorable contract.

Goalie injuries are rare, but playing too many games in a row brings conditioning down, which I thought led to ineffective play after awhile.

Yeah in my opinion Clemmensen's value was his contract.

Different teams have different approaches - but I would rather have a cheap 63ish type backup than a 65/66 making a few mill.

A backup is worth the same as any other player that doesn't play in your lineup.

unless he has starting upside and youth behind him

It really depends on the starter, a few teams had starters who tire quite quickly.

If that is the case a good backup is required. A few teams also had starters who were hurt with the random injury.

I think you are more likely to get a return on a back up if you wait until the season starts and there are goalies out there not playing very well or getting tired quickly.

I assume it was Raycroft for a 2nd?

The Nashville duo remains in play....
