This is what happens when you tie yourself to the Brett Farve show. It's like signing a deal with the devil. Good luck with Jackson and Paprika Vikes fans.

Nope, not confirmed at all. Actually, Brad Childress said in his press conference that everything is still fluid. This is the media taking a little nugget of information and sensationalizing it to make it front page news.
My guess, Favre called the Vikings brass to say his ankle still isn't 100%, so he's not committing to the team at this point in time.

Hold outs piss me off no matter what the circumstance. You signed a contract. Honor it.

Normally I would agree, but not in a league with no guaranteed contracts.

In an Un-capped year he will get a huge contract and this will be his last year.

He wants more than the $12 million he's already scheduled to make?
Really?

Update on the Favre situation:
Favre has started to contact teammates and Vikings officials to say he will not return for a 20th NFL season, tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said on Tuesday evening.

This news of Favre possibly retiring (for real) has ruined my day. I was really looking forward to one more year.

If he does call it quits.....it opens the door for a Packers division title in a walk. Brett helps the Pack one more time....oh yeah and

Steve Mariucci was on Sirius NFL tonight just after texting back and forward with Favre and he said Favre hasn't officially retired but his ankle isn't where it needs to be and he's not in the shape he feels he needs to be. Last year he could still do cardio after shoulder surgery to stay in shape but with the ankle he hasn't been able to so he's not near game shape. Didn't sound very promising from what he had to say.
As far as I'm concerned this is just Favre being Favre. He was probably getting a little jealous with Haynseworth and Revis getting all the headlines going into training camp and wanted to remind everyone that he still hasn't made his annual decision yet. In a few weeks if he feels like playing he will, if the ankle is really not recovered he won't. Personally I think the guy is pathetic but I kind of hope he comes back as it will make the season that much more fun. Nothing like the annual Favre crash and burn ending to his teams season.

Favre oracle Al Jones (reporter who's covered him forever) sincerely doubts Favre retirement story.

Pfff. You severely underestimate the Chicago Bears. If healty they have all the makings of a number 1 defensive stallwart in the NFL. They have finally put together a young and capable reciving corps and a fitting 1-2 punch at Running Back. Given Cutler's speedy learning of the new offense, I think the Bears are a dark horse to come out of the NFC

The Bears have great names in their front 7, but Football moreso than any other game is not kind to aging players. Mind you the Bears probably could have won 10 games last year if Jay Cutler had played at a Matt Cassel level....thats how bad he was in some of those games. In order for the Bears to do anything it will begin and end with Cutler.

Pfft, I think you are overestimating the capabilities of the Bears.

So who is the best team in the NFC?
Is it the defending SB champions in the Saints? I've heard a lot of people say the Cowboys will get to the big game. If Favre stays, the Vikings have to be a team that will be near the top. Also, people have said that the Falcons, Packers and Giants will make a lot of noise this year in the NFC. What do you think?
