If they actually gave a shat about global warming maybe they'd tackle some of the bigger fish rather than cowardly take on the oilsands. Come on hipster pussies take on the Chinese or the US. We're not the ones consuming 20 million barrels of oil per day.

You're not seriously condoning this BS, are you? Hanging from the Calgary Tower? Holding a private business that has nothing to do with oil (save for it's original name) hostage to protest oil?
The Calgary Tower should lock the hatch for a few hours and see if these punks want to pay their way back inside.

I'm seriously condoning civil disobedience for a cause that you believe in. This PARTICULAR action may well be misdirected, by the comments in this thread were about Greenpeace tactics in general (re: emergency vehicles).

Just got back from the gong show.
Is the irony of a Greenpeace protest causing massive gridlock and the needless idling of thousands of vehicles, (including the tieing up of a major amount of critical first response units), lost only on me?
I get it, you have a cause.

I would certainly hope none of them fall. They may damage some precious, innocent pavement below and tack on another expense from this stupid little stunt.

Why would that organization even want separation of Oil and State? Do they really want the industry to be unregulated and unroyaltied?

You do get that not all civil disobedience is the same right? Maybe not, as you just compared a rally to people breaking into a private building and hanging off the side of it.

Hopefully "paddy wagonned" now means to induce massive amounts of fists to someone's face.

We can only hope the cops play biggest dent on the inside walls of the steel elevator at the downtown police station.

Wow, the amount of hate on this board is like a dog foaming at the teeth.
While I don't condone the message (separation b/w oil and state? WTF?), guess what - it has everybody thinking about the stunt, even if its seething hatred. there were people watching from below, cars lined up in traffic, and media covering the stunt on numerous outets.
In a lot of ways, the protestors succeeded. And they probably don't care how mad and inconvinienced you are.

Just getting attention doesn't make it a success. Getting as much negative attention as it has (as this thread is evidence) makes it a massive failure.
