I was trying to use a word that wouldn't invite a joke, but couldn't really think of any

Pretty hard rain in the Royal Oak area - so hard that rain flooded through my kitchen doors from the deck. Seems to have now calmed down after about 20 minutes + hard rain & wind.

Harvest Hills Blvd. is pretty much flooded. There are certain sections heading south that have been blocked by police because it looks like cars would have a hard time to pass through. There is one section at the intersection of Country Hills and Harvest Hills (heading north) that is pretty deep if you use the right hand lane. Just some warnings in case people are headed down that road.

Edgemont and Hamptons were getting smashed earlier ~7PM. It wasn't huge but there were a lot of them... and lots of flooding. On Edgemont Blvd and country hills intersection, a Jetta was trying to get through and the water went up to his grill.

Southland Larry's stampin' grounds under about 4' of agua around 7:00 last night.
The big concrete thing is a drain, and it was empty by this morning.

And all that remained was a lawn chair and an orange, double-ended hockey stick?

Just a head's up that most of Alberta is under a severe thunderstorm warning. Sadly, I have to drive to Fort Saskatchewan today for a weekend wedding shower/stag party so I won't be able to chase. Today and possibly tomorrow look like they could be pretty intense days for storms.

THe last 2 days have been fine, so I think August is up to 2.
Anyone have that weather radar link? This thread is interesting, whats the odds on us getting stormed on tonight?

Not getting destroyed by rain does a nice day not make.
0 for August

Weren't the last two days fairly clear and such? I would consider them nice.
Overall though this summer has been brutal weather wise.

Correct. I included that tidbit to hint at the field's main use: a dry pond. I belive they are engineered to handle overflow a few times a year, then be used as a normal field the rest of the year.

Here in the north it's been really dry for over a year, can't win.

A couple of guys have just turned up in the nick of time to do some repairs to our foundations. We are in the middle of renovation work and this week I found a puddle in one of the newly drywalled and painted rooms in the basement. Hope this afternoon's storm hangs off for a couple of hours.
