Winnipeg Blue Bombers at STAMPEDERS
Total domination last game vs the Riders. Defense pressured Darian Durant all night and the offense played well the whole night except for the 2nd quarter. Will the Stamps do a repeat against the Bombers.
Blue Bombers will have QB Steven Jyles at the helm again vs the Stamps. Jyles played a heck of a game as well on their last game vs the Eskimos that some of the media were asking if Buck Pierce can still take his spot especially if Jyles plays well vs the Stamps. It's only one game and now they have to face a better team and a better defense so I think Jyles will be in for a shock. I got the feeling that the Bombers will try to deploy RB Fred Reid a lot.QUARTERBACK: Henry Burris had a shaky 2nd quarter but he sure bounced back in the 2nd half. Burris threw 2 INT last game, one was because of the communication problem between himself and Romby Bryant and the other might be his fault.
RUNNING BACK: THat was an awesome RB tandem between Reynolds and Cornish. When Sask LB figured out Reynolds' style, the Stamps coaching staff tried something and they were successful. They mixed up the running plays with the power runner Reynolds plays series, then they throw a more finesse running of Cornish. The Riders defense didn't know what hit them so at the end, Reynolds and Cornish had success running against the defense.
OFFENSIVE LINE: I thought the OLine played their best game this season so far. Riders' defense was a non-factor and we didn't see a lot of pressure on Burris. I am hoping for a repeat vs the Bombers.
RECEIVERS: Romby Bryant didn't have a good quarter in the 2nd quarter. Kudos for him in making some huge adjustment in the 2nd half. We rarely see Burris throw the ball to Nik Lewis but when he does, Lewis make the most of it. PK Sam will be doubtful Saturday but this might be the game Ken-Yon Rambo will be coming back. Deon Murphy is becoming a threat on offense as well. Romby Bryant is this week's winner of the offensive player of the week.
DEFENSIVE LINEMEN:This is probably the best our DLine played so far this season. Durant got chased a lot and he ended up throwing 3 INT because of the DLine's pressure. Durant probably had a nightmare that night seeing Tom Johnson on his dream all night.
LINEBACKING: MLB Juwan Simpson played really well. The guy was flying all night so it is so hard not to notice the guy. Keon Raymond had one INT. Overall, the whole LB and DLine just kept on pressuring Durant all night.
DEFENSIVE BACKS: Last season not a lot of QB try to throw the ball on Browner's side. So far this season, Lemon of TO and Durant threw balls against him. I guess there was a reason why last QB don't even try against him. He proved it again that it is not easy to beat him. One thing for sure, Browner will not tackle the receiver, he'll try hitting them hard. Milton Colins had a good game as well and even had an INT. I really like the energetic Isaac. He is not afraid to go after the receivers.
SPECIAL TEAM: Neon Deon Murphy started off with a great return on the kickoff. Almost went all the way. Even though his punt return was not even close to the kickoff return yardage, it just nice to see that we finally have a legit punt returner. Stamps don't have to rely on the NO YARDS penalty in order to get more yardage on punt return. I am just glad we didn't have to see Howell returning punts anymore for this team. Our special team's blocker and stopper had a great game compare to the previous few games. Punter Burke Dales showed he is one of the best punter in the league. Rob Mavis is making us forget that little Sandro guy.
THE OPPOSITION: The Blue Bombers just embarrassed the Eskimos last Saturday. In the first quarter, their defense dominated and did not allow Ricky Ray to use his magic. They ended up chasing Ricky Ray out of the game in the 2nd half. QB Steven Jyles played his first game this season replacing the injured Buck Pierce had a good game as well. He can throw and he can run. Sorry Jyles, meet the Stamps defense(Tom Johnson, Charleston Hughes and others). Prepare for a long night.More update before Game Time on Saturday, July 31st at McMahon Stadium. The game will be on TSN (Subject for blackout). Not sure if they will sell out just like last week. So, at this time it is 50-50 that we might see the game on TV.
GO STAMPS GO!!

Hey I can read again thank you. Oh nice insight by the way. Oh and don't underestimate the Bombers, they won what many saw as a trap game against Edmonton last week with their backup quarterback. Calgary will be on an emotional high after thrashing Suckskatchewan, and I bet this one gets decided by a touchdown or less.
Pro-line currently has the Stamps by 7.5 points. The visitors might be a nice bet for your ticket. I expect the Stamps to win but not necessarily to cover the spread.

According to TSN Rambo is expected to suit up for Saturday's game against Winnipeg. I guess we will really know for sure if that's true comes Saturday before game time. I hope to see Rambo-Bryant combo out there. Also, they mentioned PK Sam will not play due a knee injury he sustained on the Riders-Stamps game. I guess that answer our question on who will sit out when Rambo return.

Norm!

A lot of the success of the running game came thanks to Nik Lewis and Rob Cote who were blowing up the Rider's midget linebacking core down field all day long.
Those guys don't get enough credit for their work on run plays.

This is my last Stamps Bombers game I will attend before I've lived in Calgary longer than Winnipeg. Once I get my citizenship, I'll swap teams, hehehe...so this one time, GO BOMBERS!

GAME UPDATE:
INJURIES:
CALGARY: LB Trsiatn Black(foot), OL Jon Gott(ankle), SB PK Sam(knee) and DB Brandon Smith(groin)
WINNIPEG: LB Marcellus Bowman(hand), DB Keyuo Craver(knee), OL Tyan Donnelly(knee), LB Shawn Gallant(knee), OL Glenn January(pectoral), QB Buck Pierce(knee), P Mike Renaud(knee), DL Dorian Smith(knee)
ROSTER MOVES:
CALGARY: SB Jabari Arthur, LB Ray Cheatham and R Ken-Yon Rambo are in; OL Zac Carlson, R Johnny Forzani and SB PK Sam(injury) are out.
WINNIPEG: LB Merill Johnson, S Ian Logan, LB Chris Smith and DB Alex Suber are in; LB Marcellus Bowman(injury), LB Derrick Doggett(released), LB Shawn Gallant(injury) and P Mike Renaud(injury) are out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winnipeg DL Odell Willis who played for the Stampeders early last season will be in the lineup after the rumour this week that he will sit out due to immigration problem. Willis said there in no truth to it and it was a personal issue that he already took care of. Stamps Ken-Yon Rambo will play his first game since he got injured last season. It's been 372 days since Rambo last played. The question now is will he be the same Rambo? I guess we will find out tonight. Mind you I guess it is not fair to gauge if Rambo will be back to his old form in the first game. I am just happy that he is back from his injury.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blue Bombers defense played so well on their last game against the Eskimos. They pressured Ricky Ray all night and they played well against the Eskimos explosive but struggling receivers in Kelly Campbell and Fred Stamps. Stamps OL need to play the way they played against the Riders and better protect Henry Burris. Bombers DLines Odell Willis and Philip Hunt and non-import Doug Brown are always a threat and love to pressure opposing QBs.
I thought we saw the good Burris in the 2nd half especially last week. Stamps coaching staff should give Burris some plays where he has to run the ball for gain. It seems like his confidence gets better when he's got success in running the ball and it also means defense will try to figure if the Stamps will throw the ball short, long, run it and QB sneak. More Joffrey Reynolds and JOn Cornish tandem please...
Defense should pressure Steven Jyles all night. He's probably in the league for a few years now but he will only start the 2nd game in the CFL. RB Fred Reid hasn't been a factor so far this season but he seems to play better against the Stamps all the time.
Game starts at 7:30pm at McMahon Stadium. The game will be televised by TSN all over Canada (Subject to blackout in Calgary).
GO STAMPS GO!!!

I really don't understand the reasoning for blackouts in this day and age.
10 seconds and 3 clicks of the mouse and you can be watching the game anyway.

Good pass by Burris to wide open Nik Lewis. Gained lots of yardage and Lewis almost went all the way. 64 yards gain.
