Why wouldn't they allow it? An attack on Canada is very narrowly removed from a direct attack on the US, the presence of wars in the middle east has nothing to do with it. Allowing the Russians to establish any type of presence on the continent is inviting a full scale war for control of the continent.

Your government doesn't have a choice unless they want to disolve NATO.
and with most of the world in a state of being somewhat pissed at America, do they really want to add their NATO allies to the mix?

You left out the part where you said... BUT.
It was in your first statement, did you accidentaly forget it?
I added it back in for you.
Reads to me you would like to help..... BUT
But I know you are smarter than your original statements, and it worked you got everybody to respond. Of course Iceland would jump in.

It would be a direct attack on the U.S. when you consider that there would likely be a big disruption in the energy (oil and electricty) and resources going over the border to the U.S. It would impact their economy in profound ways.

Okay nevermind. I understand what CPT Crunch is saying. I don't really see anything coming out of this but lets play the what if game.
If the Russians do attack what does America do with Afghanistan and Iraq? Do they just pull everyone out and head up north?

Probably, fighting a war in the middle east would take a major back seat to fighting a war in your backyard.

Someone in Russia tried to hack my facebook yesterday. Coincidence? I think not.

Since bringing troops back home would involve them either flying or boating them over territory that Russians control or can exert a lot of force over, which means that the Russians could probably effectively cut off re-enforcements, an invasion of Canada by the Russians would certainly be countered with a nuclear threat.
In fact early NATO doctrines emphasized that in the event of a armed invasion of a NATO country nuclear weapons usage was part of the defense strategy on a tactical level. In other words if the Russians would have invaded Germany, America, Britain and France would immediately target key road and rail road interchanges, logistic centers military basis, naval bases and ship yards and of course removal of the nuclear threat, while carefully avoiding the use of city busting weapons.
So if for example, Canada was invaded, re-enforcements could not quickly be bought back, the President would almost instantly escalate to a nuclear threat, or even more likely launch counterforce first, go after the targets listed above and try to limit Russian retaliation.

Clearly, in the interests of national defence, it is your citizenly duty to buy some Millie The Massey tickets.
Only $5 each or 2 for $10 or 3 for $15. Time to seal her fate.

FAWK OFF Ruskies... Man I would love to, in an alternate reality, have become a fighter pilot and shot down ruskies.
With all the talk of the Chinese trying to control our politicians, and the Russians sending spies over here, are we too far away from some good ol' internment camps? I wonder if our society is evolved enough to move past that, or should things turn more nasty, is this an option?

Well now that a Chinese Admiral stated that since they have 20% of the worlds population its irrelevant that they don't have an arctic coast line, they should be given 20% of the Arctic resource area.

The following line of logic has always seemed silly to me...we'll use the Japanese for example.
We are in a war against the Japanese...their government attacked us, so they're obviously bad. Since the Japanese government is bad, anyone of Japanese descent is bad and must be put in internment camps because they might be spies!
Interesting that Americans and Canadians of German descent weren't locked away during WWII. I imagine it's because they're not a visible minority, or even a minority at all.

I was asking if we'd moved beyond it, I wasn't putting it forward as a valid idea
With that said, the German Canadians were, for the most part, a few generations old here. In contrast, there were few Japanese here before WWI, so the bulk of Japanese were first generation Japenese and seen as more likely to subvert to the enemy (Japan). The same type of argument is made by people today WRT the Russians and Chinese, though we've had a decent number of both for a while, so I don't really follow the logic in that line of thinking...

Two of my wife's great aunts were killed as toddlers by their German Nanny who poisoned their milk during WWI and vanished.

A large amount of Italians came around the same time as the Japanese immigrants but I never saw an Italian camp either?
