CRAZY fast, it's amazing being able to surf and type and just do stuff with it working without having to wait.. and wait.. and app crash and relaunch and wait..

So far yeah, the speed is what I was after and that's not disappointing at all.. device feels slick and usable, like the 3G did when I first got it (rather than the brick the 3G feels like now).
And the screen.. well the resolution is amazing.

I was at one of the Fido stores, they had 19 phones and when it opened there was maybe 17 people in line, so nothing at all like the mayhem at the Apple store.

I was at best buy NE and they had none for fido but a dozen or so left for Telus. No line.
I went to the fido store in sunridge and a couple others there. No phones left save one, but the rogers/fido activation line was busy for something like 2 hours so they could not do anything.

Just negotiated a retention plan and ordered a new iPhone
200 daytime mins, Unlimited Evenings & Weekends @ 5pm ($17.50)
Visual VM, 2500 sms, CID, WhoCalled ($15)
6GB Data ($30 - $5)
$57.50
iPhone4 32GB = $145 (fido dollars)
Probably could have weaseled a bit more credit, but my bills will be cut by around $40 and I'm happy enough with the deal.

Yeah I'm really interested to see how many people at the Apple store actually got phones.
My friend was at Marlborough mall and he said that it was amazing, at 8:30 when Wireless Wave and The Phonebooth opened there was hardly anyone lined up anywhere, you could have just walked up and been 1st or second in line or walked out with a phone from Wireless Wave or the other one.

I don't have email or anything set up yet, doing a backup/restore. I'll take some pictures and post them later.

I'm curious about the micro SIM card. For those of you that picked up the iPhone today, did they activate it for you and transfer all of your info from your previous SIM?

They activated it but they didn't do any transfer.. there was one guy in line who had 200 contacts on his SIM, and they told him the only way they knew how to do it was by hand.

Have you played with the video camera at all? Is the HD capability good enough that you could use your phone as your family camcorder?

I am ready to shoot some people. I went to the mall today not really expecting anything, but the T-Booth store was near empty, so I went there and waited in line. Two people in front of me both got iPhones, and then I get to the front and they have none for Fido. Thanks for the info. Why can't they tell us that? Then I go to the Fido store, wait for about half an hour, and then they finally say they only have three left. Screw you!

haha. i was walking my dog by market mall last nite at 1130pm and there were people lining up already. Idiots. hehe
Just got a call from my cousin. He got there at 630am and says the lines have barely moved. They were assured from staff that everyone will get one.
I guess there are 2 lines. one for fido/telus/rogers customers and one for people who want to buy the phone outright.

Who did you call? What did you say? I am interested in lowering my talk costs as I feel i am getting ripped off with only 50 mins for like $30.
Did you apply your Fido bucks to the $259 HUP costs? I didn't know you could do that.

So I just looked at my bill. My plan is 150 Daytime minutes but for the past 2 years, they have been only giving me 50 minutes per month.
So I call and ask fir retentions right away?

I don't have my phone yet but I talked to customer relations at Rogers and managed to get the 159 price instead of the 399 that I was supposed to pay. It should be mailed here next week.
Amazing what asking how I go about paying out the cancellation fees in order to move to Bell can do.

Got my unlocked unit at Apple Market Mall. Once they stopped bothering with carrier activations people wanting unlocked devices flew by.

Well I own a 16GB iPhone 4, I am just not in possession of it. Rogers activation computers are getting bent over. They couldn't activate it. They have one sitting in the back for me. They said they should be able to get it activated this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest.

If I have a Roger SIM card (with an existing iPhone plan), will Rogers just give me the equivalent MicroSIM for use in an iPhone4 / iPad, or will they balk and say I have to pay something?
